Apple dialing down iPhone production, as sales come below targets

1. 120Hz was implemented most likely because Apple couldn't implement 120Hz refresh rate on Amoled... But I will still give thumbs up for having this.
2. Calibration is not innovation... There is nothing innovated here, this is a standard and Samsung as well as the Pixel 3 have one of the best screen calibration.
3. Removal headphone jack - thing to say here, wireless is the future and all companies adapting it now.
4. Apple security is strong because they have a very restricted, closed OS (Not because Apple updating their security monthly)... You even don't have file management, while the Pixel line has even better security with the monthly security patches and a dedicated security chip on Pixel 3.
5. 10nm the latest Snapdragon chip was built as well... 7nm Huawei's latest cpu were made and next year Snapdragon.
6. 3D is a feature, but Android devices have other features, such a squeeze on Pixel and HTC devices, which on of the best features...
7. FaceID doesn't work at night or direct sunlight properly... To be honest I prefer touch ID, because it's faster, works every time and secured.
8. Haptic engine - Implemented very well on the iPhones, but Pixel 3 has a very similar implementation.

Android OS is superior in almost every way... Best AI, has file management, customizable UI, the phone adapt to user and not vice versa, able to record calls and the list go on and on.

    If you are comfortable with iOS then there is nothing in universe that can satisfy you and if you are android use you will have a bit hard time for few months getting use to iOS

    Apart from eco system there are so.many things and they all are subjective One Plus offers near vanilla android experience for half of price so now you have to evaluate by your self either you can pay more to have options or luxury like face ID or 3D touch or you can safe and have value for money deal

    Apple eco system is good for mobiles but they failed miserably when comes to tablets like come on so much computational power and you don't have file manager on your tablet seriously ?

    You look like you are die hard fan of apple else your facts needs to be rectified

    7nm and all those things are history in android too Huawei announced that way before apple but failed to launch before them for which credit goes to Apple

    For pound to pound Mate 20 pro Note 9 One plus 6t are far better options than iPhone

    But again when it comes to iOS so we don't have any option at all

    And I am use of mate 9 and iPhone 7 plus and they both are better than each other in different ways I like both and am comfortable with both

      Most accurate colour display then you have never seen other flagship android phones.

      Removal of 3.5mm jack is Innovation? Come on, don't fool your self. And aah air bud is innovation, no it's another catch to earn more money.

      Apple is just a company not your friend and more over they side tracked Steve Jobs dream.

      There's nothing wrong in android world but Apple teach others how to hike price and make their loyal customer fool and we all are seeing the results in last couple of years. Smartphone touches USD 1000.

      So yes they invented one thing i.e. how to loot customers.

        Those are two different things.

        Razer phone has 120Hz screen refresh rate, it doesn't have 120Hz touch sensing.
        Totally different things. Only iPhones have 120Hz touch sensing.

        Yes, colour calibration and colour accurate displays with a wide colour gamut, are innovations. Apple introduced these, and Apple managed to calibrate amoled displays to be on par and even surpass LCD colours.

        The removal of the 3.5mm jack is logical step towards all-wireless tech. Stop clinging on to the past.
        And Apple did it right, as they offerred the AirPods when they removed the jack.

        Apple security is not keeping up with the times, it's keeping ahead of the times, and yes, that is continous effort. It's continuous innovation to be ahead of times at all times.


        Did you mention the 10nm and 7nm CPUs in your post? Those are two years ahead of anything in the android world.

        3D touch? Can't live without it once you start using it. Nothing in the android world has that.

        FaceID that's actually working and is more secure than fingerprint sensors? Nothing in the android world has that.

        Haptic engine? That's so awesome to use and feels "right". Unlike the wobbly vibration motors inside android devices.

          "TrueTone display" --- Call it whatever you want it's basically adaptive display in samsung phones and several other desktop monitors who have been offering this tech it for long. Just because apple coined a cute name and marketed it as some sort of brand new break through feature doesn't make it one.

          120Hz touch sensing - Razor phone already did that.

          colour accurate calibration of AMOLED displays - " does it even qualify for being an innovation? it's calibration of displays ffs....

          the T2 chip -- "That's in laptops, we are talking about phones i suppose"

          removal of the unneeded 3.5mm jack -- "Not an innovation, was done by Moto already, and it's not a good thing either"

          the AirPods -- "Would hardly call a pair of bluetooth headphones an innovation"

          best mobile data encryption , best user privacy, best device security --- "Jeez, is that even an innovation, Apple has been providing encryption, privacy, security features for a long time, if they update that with time doesn't make it an innovation, do you think Android doesn't offer all of these features ? In fact for a long time there wasn't even multi user support in iOS, you could not create multiple user profiles which was offered by android "

                  i'm switching from ipone to samsung next year. The camera in iphone (X, XS, XR sucks compare to samsung s9 (did the test with my own hands).

                      Saw this coming.

                      Android phones has a bigger leverage that iPhone, and that is pricedrop. Androids fall in price over time whereas iPhone only drops in price when they are replaced by a newer generation. And even then by just a little.

                          Why is everyone comparing iPhone prices with android phone prices? They are different products with different specifics and features.

                          And the price points will always be different, as android is provided for free and is monetised by google through monitoring and profiling their users and scanning their personal info - to serve ads based on that - and make money out of it.

                          Whereas iOS and all Apple devices are focused on exactly the opposite of that, which is: user privacy, data security, encryption, and solid and consistent OS, great user experience, and premium products.

                          With android devices the user is the final product. Devices are just means to collect users' data.
                          With Apple devices the user is the customer and the product are Apple devices and services.

                          As simple as that.

And even in the long perspective, people have been saying/reporting this for _years_ without it coming true so far. These rumors means _nothing_, you should know that if you followed this business for some time now.

                            When Apple can't deliver on their guidance, then they will have a problem. Then its worth writing about it.

                              That's what happens when a large amount of your customers want your smartphones but you cease smartphone production for the new series in favour of just making plus phones. In addition to dialing down production of the plus phones they should launch an actual replacement for the iPhone 8 smartphone to compensate.

                                  Apple had hits peak in terms of sales volume growth...that's the first "indicator". AUC may be increasing to give numbers in their favour but when customers replacing cycle starts with competitors products and services, the game will be over....

                                  For Trillion dollar companies both upturn and downturn will not be quick but history clearly shows when it starts...

                                        I find it funny so many people takes these "reports" as some sort of facts. Are you guys completely to the smartphone business or do you just have really bad memory?

                                        We have seen the EXACT same reports year after year. The reports of large production cuts of the iPhone X last year, how it sold really badly. People started writing things like we see in this thread, "Apple is doomed", no one wants to pay 1000$ for a phone and so on...

                                        And that turned out, as many times before, being completely wrong and the iPhone X was a huge success for Apple.

                                        My point is, wait until Apple releases a report that actually show its going bad instead of trusting these, historically proven, very unreliable reports.
