Snapdragon 8150 AI benchmark crushes the competition, Helio P80 a close second

20 November 2018
The benchmark results raise a few eyebrows, though. For example, OnePlus 6 outscores the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

Emulators don't have to be demanding. I ran console emulators already on my frist android phone (Motorola Milestone) and modern heavy games at max settings demand much more.

Running VPN itself is not really demanding on the battery, but sadly many VPNs (like tunnelbear) are power hungry. Which do you use? And have you considered a phone with better battery life?

Hope you know that the same chipsets will work differently in different OEM phones.

It shows how m... moreits not jualousy, i just dont like how they presenting thier new product... big hype around almost nothing. the only good thing is that kirin980 is in 7nm...nothing else is special in this SoC and lots of people are falling in to that marketing trick. next time they will say that kirin990 have tricoder capabilities and peoole will beleive in it.

It is about efficiency (low power consumption) on great performance. Snapdragon 820 is a good chip, but way to much energy is wasted through it's cores. I agree with your last part as well...most of us don't do anywhere near as much on our mobiles as you but i still like to have a decent mobile anyway :).

Why so much jealousy against Kirin 980 here? It shows how much Huawei has progressed. For now, we are still waiting for the first phone to use the 8150 or P80 chip.

Interesting. It's leagues ahead of the overhyped kirin 980. I am pleased.

Peter-B, 20 Nov 2018That 300MHz downclock hardly makes up for the 2x difference... moreNo, the difference seems to be if its using the API to access the NPU or fallback to CPU.

Accurate measurement of what an NPU can do is a mess right now. And a pain in the ass that you cant use it if the OEM doesnt want to.

i just cant understand what the point of these often edited benchmarks are for, they dont give any real world usage reports, just artificial scores based on optimal settings in a controlled environment, phones with lower scores can easily out perform more powerful devices in daily tasks so these numbers are just for n e r d s with no real life, I have the huawei mate 20 pro and like most other premium devices, you cant really get faster then instant
