Few days after mwc, someone posted on a forum this: he said a friend had info about ability to record 4K@960 and 1080p@1920 and the second would have more chance..
He thought it was for XZ2P but it did not happen..
On asian sites there are many gossips: 4K HDR 60fps, 6K 30 fps, super slow-mo 4K 960fps /FHD 1920fps.
The gossip about screen 240Hz I've heard twice

What Sony needs to do is reduce its disable their image sharpening algorithm, since their photos produce not noise, but artifacts.
I did a test with Capture One, Lightroom and Noiseware, the noise produced by ISO is minimum, but none of the software I mentioned could eliminate the artifacts, since there is no consistent pattern.
Its more like mosquito noise than ISO noise, but amplified thanks to the over sharpening.

Number of lens elements, the dram etc.. It becomes thicker.
I suspect it has about 5mm thick ( the single cam)
The curved body of xz2 leaves less space inside.
Sony will never use or sell 1" , because they make good money with RX100 series.
One device has dual sefie, I dont know if it's xz4 or XZ5 Premium

21:9 is a beauty ratio, it means you can get two side by side 4:3 screens split perfectly.

Anonymous, 29 Nov 2018my brothers xz2 camera destroys my s9 in all real life situ... moreS9's camera is just average in this year of many exciting camera setups.
I would say, Google, Apple and Huawei do beat Sony at computational photography, but all of their photos are always already digitally-enhanced with their multi-frame image stacking processing algorithm.
The true night time shooter is the XZ2 Premium, as it uses its true high ISO capabilities instead of relying on multiple exposures enhanced by software.
And no, the ISO 102,400 of the Mate 20 Pro isn't as good as Sony's ISO 51,200. It's as horrible as one would imagine for a camera sensor size, but Sony's ISO 51,200 is even better than typical smartphone sensors at ISO 6400.

Anonymous, 29 Nov 2018a 1inch sensor fits. even bigger fits. but not the lens.
t... moreThat's only if you have true optical zoom on that lens. It will only be larger, but not exactly longer.
Looking at the P20 Pro's camera bump on its main camera, it looks fairly minimal, and with some additional thickness to the phone, I'm sure it can be eliminated easily, and this also helps to allow for some more internal hardware, such as the 3.5mm jack or larger battery.
And yeah, the P20 Pro isn't that thick by any means, but this Sony's 1" sensor would be a tad thicker if they were to put a DRAM inside, though I'd personally trade that thin factor for better quality internals, as well as improved phone durability.

anonymous, 29 Nov 2018I just don't understand people's obsession with having more... moreBecause smartphone cameras aren't the same as professional grade cameras, in that their lenses are fixed.
Other useful camera tricks require an entirely different camera setup, but as long as the main camera is good enough, it's fine to me to have more sensors.
This is also exactly what makes the Mate 20 Pro the absolute best-all round camera setup on a smartphone today; great low light performance, insane Night Mode photographic capabilities, some good 4K videos, nice dynamic range, excellent portrait/bokeh shots, very good optical zoom, pretty useful wide angle images, and so on.

the lens needs to be longer as the sensor grows, that's why the biggest sensor you see are around 1/2.3, else the phone become super thick

Anonymous, 29 Nov 2018Why would it be good for movies but not shows?Movies are specifically made in either of the two industry standard ratios; 21:9 for theaters and 16:9 for conventional consumer level of screens.
TV shows, on the other hand, are just made in 16:9 since they're not going to be shown in movie theaters, or at least there isn't a lot of 21:9 ratio consumer screens that would utilize it.
I don't think anything would be bad though. The extra ratio could allow for some really useful things, such as my idea of 3 apps at once (an improvement to the current split screen multitasking of Android today).

I'm sure that a 1" sensor could easily fit inside this phone's body, considering the sizes of the P20 Pro combined together is already equivalent to something larger than 1" (1/1.7 + 1/2.3 + 1/2.8).
