Anonymous, 14 Dec 2018Really Mr Battery expert? So all these uneducated manufactu... moreThese manufacturers are not uneducated but they care about their profit before their customers. If you didn't get it by now, most probably you are the uneducated one.
Sealed battery, removal of 3.5mm jack etc. all of these were to maximize their profit. Yeah, sure fast helps but it degrades your battery faster. If you don't wanna believe its your problem, not anyone else's.

EskeRahn, 14 Dec 2018none-ignorant people disagree with that...
See e.g. https:... moreAs per the link you provided, the following conditions must be respected when charging a battery the ultra-fast way:
1. The battery must be designed to accept an ultra-fast charge and must be in good condition. Li-ion can be designed for a fast charge of 10-minutes or so but the specific energy of such a cell will be low.
2. Ultra-fast charging only applies during the first charge phase. The charge current should be lowered after the battery reaches 70 percent state-of-charge (SoC).
3. All cells in the pack must be balanced and have ultra-low resistance. Aging cells often diverge in capacity and resistance, causing mismatch and undue stress on weaker cells.
4. Ultra-fast charging can only be done under moderate temperatures, as low temperature slows the chemical reaction. Unused energy turns into gassing, metal-plating and heat.
Nice try in just cherry picking one sentence.

OwnFix3, 14 Dec 2018I don't care how fast my phone charges. I'd better care for... moreiPhones have average battery life at best while also having slow charging, neither benefits anybody. They then slowdown their phones to slowdown battery degradation to, lol. What does that tell you? Battery degradation happens regardless.
The funny thing here is that the phones with the fastest charring also have some of the largest batteries and longest battery endurance. So its a Win-Win, Fast Charge and great Battery Life.

I don't care how fast my phone charges. I'd better care for proper optimization of the OS with the battery such that each of its level is properly utilized.
Apple sure is best at optimization because they make both their OS and chips.
I'm a fan of Sony for Android, because they are the closest to perfect optimization.
Fast charge is great, but what's the point when your battery degrades 10-20% sitting idle, without doing anything.

See e.g. https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/ultra_fast_chargers
"Apply the ultra-fast charge only when necessary"
Sure it is much WORSE if it at elevated temperatures, and this is why wireless fast-chargers should be avoided on devices with non-user-relaceable batteries (and that unfortuately is almost all modern phones/phablets) due to the heat generated by the charging pad.

With all these fast charge on lithium-ion batteries, won't that deteriorate the battery's life quicker?

natraj, 14 Dec 2018iphone? at best 50%, according to aPple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208137
Despite my negative disposition to aPple, it is a little odd that the test includes brands like Moto and Vivo, and not an Iphone.

while these are nice scores most of you who bash pixel and samsung seems to forget that they get these numbers with any high power charger and any cable even cheapest one so unless you carry your charger and cable with you on these chinese phones you will charge slowly with any other charger even if its fast one
So again well done to oppo and huawei but if you travel a lot its useless.
p. s. im not a Samsung fanboy i have xz2

Interesting detail that the OnePlus 6T, get so little extra by using a 30W charger over a 20W charger. You could have hoped for a factor 1.5 (or +50%), but it is only a factor 1.18 (or +18%)
So I guess it is only using 30W at peak. (or it generates a lot of waste heat...)

To all the ignorant people who think Fast charging kills battery. IT DOESN'T!
What degrades battery is heat. I haven't researched every single fast-charging technology, but i can tell you that OnePlus' DASH & WARP charge, Oppo's VOOC & SuperVOOC & Huawei's SuperCharge are some of the safest quick charging technologies that exist today. All the heat is generated on the charger itself, not the battery. It is safe & convenient for daily usage, and doesn't degrade your battery life. Brilliant stuff!

Woouuvvv Google and Samsung is soo poor... Old fashion charging style.
Cmon for all this money the phones cost, ppl deserve much better specs.
Nice to see China show the way for lower prices.
No wonder Sammy and Google selling less phones. Not all pll are stupid and paying those over prices.
All this is good for customers, i like (Y).
