Sony Mobile exec hints that the Xperia Compact line has been axed

If this is true, it's sad i will not have a sony for my next mobile phone. Sony have a promising future starting with the xz3 since they're using oled screen now and smaller bezels. I was hoping they'll do the same with the compact line. i'll still be using my Z5C for now even if the overheating problem is annoying.

Sony must release a PlayStation/PSP related Gaming smartphone anyhow soon!!!

Sony should:
1. Fire their entire design and R&D team. Their phones are still thicc and phat even if they have average battery capacities, not to mention have difficult repairability. Learn from companies like Apple (*shrugs*) and Samsung on how to design PCBs to maximize space while maintaining thinness. Also, add OIS to your cameras, if smaller companies can do that to their phones which are priced at like $400, then why can't your phones do that.
2. Focus on just having 4 to 5 models a year: 1 Flagship phablet, 1 Compact Flagship, 1 Midrange, and 1 to 2 Lower End phones.
3. Listen to your customers. Many want OIS on the cameras and thin phones but have big batteries.

Hmm.. I wonder if they market them better. They need a better marketing manager not a new ceo. Sony phones are great, too bad Sony mobile sucks at marketing them the last few years.

Sony was playing alone on the field mate, alone. Way ahead of the others. The poor camera you mention is in every major phone out there. Without Sony well.., no good camera for you.
It's easy to blame others on their faults and ignore their goods. Like most people you focused on this. This is a direct reflection of yourself.
Try showing a good image dude, this ain't getting you anywhere.

Looks like a strategic adjustment in reaction to poor results last year. I'm sure they did this because of poor sales in the Compact line, but this is their only unique product line. A shame.

Both me with XZ2C and my coworker with XZ2 have yellow areas on the screen, and when I brought mine to repairs shop they said it's a common issue.
Sony quality sucks since Z1C era. However otherwise their Compacts are unrivaled so it's a hard choice.

S5 = poor band aid plastic build, poor waterproofing, poor battery quality and endurance, mono speakers, yellowish oled , 4K limited recording

I'm am looking for a compact phone the only one I find is samsung a3 2017. Sony xz1 compact sharp corners, well they are too sharp.

Current lineup consists of the best phone they've ever made. And yes their build quality is the best in business, it's Apple like hardware quality build.
And yes phone sales have nothing to do with how good the actual device is. You can make the carbon copy of the best selling S9 and price it $250 and you would not even move 500,000 units. That's because device doesn't sell itself. Shoving it down the consumer throat at every single corner in every single mall and carrier store is what makes sales.
