I was able to own the last galaxy flagship, the Note 2. Early models of Note 2 didn't have the region lock so it was truly the last Samsung flagship (the regionlocked note 2 came around the same time as galaxy S4, marking the end of Samsung as an option when looking for new phone). iPhones were at the time still operatorlocked, so I never had to look at or consider an iphone. Funny how thing got completely flipped, and iPhones went from locked and limited to be the open opne while Samsung locked down their flagships, so completely unexpected, it happened once and could happen again.
Note 2 was quite good at first, despite the extremely poor build quality and a few severe overheating incidents (the smell of burned plastic was painful) and most games didn't work at launch, the Samsung designed SoC was not adhering to standards so all games had to be recompiled for Note 2 (took many months), making it quite a bumpy ride and imposing severe limitations on my usage. But anyway, I soon got tired of the low resolution display with the excessive blue tint in whites and moved to 1080p LCD, the old amoled displays really were poor, LCD was very superior at the time... I later bought a Nokia N9 but again was dissatisfied with the amoled colour tints. iPhone X was the first amoled phone with a good display (unlocked phone, I don't count region locked devices as phones, thats just an overpriced limited use gadget).
Now my only Samsung phone is a Galaxy S, never know when I need a simple phone that accept a mini sim. Its not horrible despite the GPS defect the S always had and amusing never was able to fix.

Truly the king of the Android smartphone market. Note 9 rules over anything atm. I still have my Note 1 working just fine

Samsung should have understood the importance of owning their own OS. Instead they became the main company responsible for giving a big boost to pushing Android into the mainstream.
I am not saying that a Samsung OS would have succeeded more than Android but my point is Samsung should have give more importance to an inhouse OS. Samsung was one of the best hardware manufactures in those early years but Tzen was not given as much importance as the potential it had.

My first Samsung mobile was S4 mini, it was really perfect to me. Looks so professional as I am a business man. Pity Samsung does not launch the compact handy phone anymore.
