Lumia 640 with Windows Phone 8.1 was great. I eventually switched to Android because of lack of apps, but the core windows phone OS is still light years ahead of Android. Everything just worked almost perfectly. Bluetooth interaction with car was flawless in WP, it's a sad mess in the ROID. I could easily cast my screen onto my TV. Not so much with ROID - you need a chromecast to do that. Notifications and reminders worked flawlessly on WP. ROID seems to randomly drop notifications for no reason. And the SPYING is unbelievable on ROID - just go into your Google history, you will see EVERYTHING you've spoke and typed and EVERYWHERE you've been.
I truly hate the hemo-ROID phone. Satya Nadella is a dip-s**t who sold out MS and turned it from a software company into a cloud spyware organization.

I had a 640 XL and it was a very good phone (which is still being used by my brother in-law). My only complaint was the app support. Sorta bummed out that Microsoft drop the ball on this platform (seems that they have a record for doing it continually).

Anonymous, 18 Jan 2019They did try to develop symbian but it was not match for iO... morebefore the infamous "burning platform" memo, many people still buying Symbian phones. it was declining slowly but still selling.
but, after the "burning platform" memo, the numbers were declining faster. people suddenly stopped buying Symbian phones because they now knew that there were no future for Symbian phones.

and the worse problem was, at the moment, Nokia thought that their Symbian phones were still selling enough to support their company until their future Windows phones ready,
they never thought that the effects of "burning platform" memo on Symbian phones was so severe and they didn't have other products yet to replace it.

and as we all know, the rest of the story is part of Nokia history now.

Too sad. Why all these happened. So bad that original Nokia is no more. I don’t use old lumia nowadays but there was no good lumia to substitute it.

Anonymous, 19 Jan 2019I regret getting Lumias for my parents, since they hate the... moreMy first smartphone was actually a WP the Lumia 525 I purchased in 2014. The UI was totally different but not bad at all what was bad was the feature set. One particular thing that pissed me off was it was unable to hold steady 3G network it always used to change to the horrible 2G which interrupted my internet experience. Like Android there was no option to force the phone on 3G. Then again the app problem was very serious. No Google Apps, even the available Apps were not as good as Android ones you know how it hurt when your friends with Android phones would just open YouTube for videos and I had to use the Internet explorer to open YouTube site to view videos. I migrated to an Android after 2 years of use and the only thing missed is the image quality of the 5MP shooter on the Lumia. It didn't have a flash or selfie camera, it could do only 720p 30 fps my current Android is 13 MP one from 2016 with LED flash 1080p video recording and 5 MP selfie camera but being a budget handset the camera quality is bad even the 2014 budget Lumia 5 MP camera had better image quality than my 2016 budget 13 MP Android phone. But I am okay since it's a budget device now hoping to purchase a LG G7 thinq.

Neophyte1980, 19 Jan 2019Those who bash WinMo have clearly never used it. Look at al... moreWinMo (Windows Mobile) OS is not Windows Phone OS.
WinMo is different OS that based on Windows CE and has been discontinued since 2010.
while Windows Phone is new OS that was intended as a successor to WinMo (but failed miserably).

WinMo was a good OS, i used WinMo 6.x as a daily driver (Samsung i600 and B7320) years ago. and it was good experiences. it was like carrying a mini laptop in your pocket. so, no wonder there are many people that love and praise WinMo (including me).

on contrary, Windows Phone is not a good OS. i had Huawei Ascend CDMA for just a few months and there was so many bugs. one bugs that i hate most was problem with storage.
using Windows Phone was very frustrating experiences that make me swore to never going to buy another Windows Phone again.

I have used both android and WP, and WP is so much more user friendly, waaaay faster even on older devices.... it is really a pity...
I have even bought an LG G6 android phone to switch from lumia 930 but it is still in the box.... I do not feel like switching to android and having in mind that in 1 year or so I will need to upgrade to a new phone because the system will be so slow...and literally unusable

This may be hinting at Project Andromeda nearing. Just speculating.
