Just having a beer, 24 Jan 2019Yeah, if they sell only one in 10 that are perfect, why not... moreIt is now 3 in 10, probably will improve to 5 in 10.

But these guys told us that the problems with the green screen were from LG panels, but those were the minority... now its the other way around? The "good ones" were the minority?

I had 3 Mate 20 Pro and all had an anomaly of screen brightness , two had a LG screen and one a BOE's one and all the three had this problem ! I find it amazing that hardly anyone is talking about this problem, on a forum I frequent a member has the same screen defect on his one. Take a look at this https://www.anandtech.com/show/13503/the-mate-20-mate-20-pro-review/7 and this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2St97qGpWi4

Lyndino, 24 Jan 2019As long as the quality of Samsung display's doesn't falter ... moreSamsung charges a premium on AMOLED display panels due to maintaining a monopoly on the tech.
Now that there's another competitor in the game, prices will eventually go down which leads to AMOLED screen smartphones becoming more affordable for the everyday consumer. IMO, once BOE gets the hang of it and increases their manufacturing efficiency, the quality of their displays will be comparable to Samsung's. No need to buy overpriced Samsung display panels when BOE's quality is just as good and is more cost-effective.

Competition is great for consumers. Been wanting a smartphone with an AMOLED screen but the high price is a turnoff. Hopefully they break Samsung's monopoly on smartphone oled displays and make it more affordable for everyone.

To those who don't know. The display for the Mate 20 Pro was supplied by two vendors. LG & BOE. The green edge issues were only present on the LG ones. The BOE made displays were perfect.

So in short, BOE is excellent and Huawei is right to choose them a their primary display supplier.

What if I told you you could be a great inventor. You have spent years on a project. And a lot of money. What if I told you someone could steal all your hard work and you'd get nothing. Do you find this normal? Do you find this fair? Would you continue to innovate if someone would steal your work?

JDI needs to jump all over the RGB + Greyscale idea HiSense demoed at CES. Near OLED contrast and black level without the burn-in issues, and leveraging existing mature and reliable production lines. Not so good for phones due to added thickness, but quite probably the near and mid term future of volume TVs.
