That's a very bold prediction to make.

... moreWell, you have to cut costs on a cheaper phone. And a lot of corners have been cut on the Xperia 10.
But you can easily get a midrange with better specs and better battery life than the Xperia 10, so other than the novel 21:9 screen, I don't see what the unique selling point of the Xperia 10 is.

If... moreSony Xperia phones have much bigger (pun not intended) problems than the perceived usefulness and usability of a 21:9 large display.
Focus on those issues first before name dropping other brands, Sony fans.

Comments the haters do on internet:
Sony uses waterproofing : - Phones are not supposed to get wet
Samsung uses waterproofing: - All flagships need IP68
Sony has stereo speakers : - Who uses tiny speakers of a phone?
Samsung puts stereo: - We have stereo with Dolby, best ever
Sony has glass phones: - It is gonna break in your pocket, glass sucks!!!
Samsung adds glass back : - Very premium build
Sony brings 960fps : - So gimmick !!
Samsung copies it : Cool feature, lots of fun
Sony uses LCD : - Oled is 10000x better , even J series has oled.
Samsung uses much worse LCD : Great, prices will go down!!
Apple bring telephoto: - Who needs more than one camera?
Samsung adds telephoto: Awesome, we have portrait mode now ...

Shadocx, 08 Apr 2019Oh c'mon, 18:9 to 19.5:9 isn't that tall compared to 21:9, ... moreIf they use notch or cutout it means that content will be compromised or being out of ration if they try to hide it. In order to not to mess up the screen ration phone would need to grow some more to accommodate everything in the current top bezel. Never the less current design is just a design choice.

Tann Hauser, 08 Apr 2019I can definitely agree with your concerns here, especially ... moreIt's really annoying that you can't lock your phone with the same button you use to unlock it. Especially as I live in a region where the side-mounted fingerprint sensor actually worked.

If you say you cant reach top of screen you are lying.
Funny fact is this kind of mean comment is never said about much bigger phones like Note 9, Mate 20X or the even bigger Mi Max 3. All of them have more than 16cm, two of them have more than 17.

Xperia 1 is "wider" than the Galaxy S10
Sony Xperia 1
167 x 72 x 8.2 mm (6.57 x 2.83 x 0.32 in)
Samsung Galaxy S10
149.9 x 70.4 x 7.8 mm (5.90 x 2.77 x 0.31 in)

Notsure, 08 Apr 2019I do have a 16:9, and for my next phone I'll get the least ... moreLeast tall means also narrower if aspect ratio is 19:9. I have Lumia 950 XL (5,7", 16:9) and Huawei P30 Pro (6,47", 19,5:9) And P30 Pro is only slightly taller than 950 XL (158mm vs 152mm). And while 950 XL is 5mm wider, screen is only 2 mm wider because of side bezels.
Not too narrow, screenwise, in my eyes. (P30 Pro, that is.)

Tann Hauser, 08 Apr 2019Oh, but its quite usable... more portrait scroll screen est... moreThe width space is too little for me in some apps, and if I get the bigger one, the height becomes ridiculous and hard to handle and pocket. I can handle 75mm width and I like to have it all. But I can't handle more than 160mm height, I can't put it in my pocket like this or use with one hand because it becomes hard to balance and tend to fall over the palm of my hand. 160x75mm is the maximum I can handle and I don't like to shorten or to lengthen too much on any of the two axes. Most pictures will get really small because of the width also, maps too...

Onix, 08 Apr 2019For multimedia content and video games I prefer a wider scr... moreAnything you do on a small screen can be damaging to your eyes. Be it any app using, texting, yt watching, gaming,... watching movies on a small mobile screen makes no difference at all... its just a preference of use.
I traveled a lot, so bought a 10inch tablet to watch series and movies on the go... gave it up, cause I had to carry a bag to bring my tablet along... for occasional movie on-the-go watching, even a 5inch screen is good enough, and more practical than carrying a 10inch tablet IMO.

k0vasz, 08 Apr 2019I think that this screen ratio is just a try to differentia... moreObviously nobody's going to say that. "21:9" is a lot easier to say. Not go mention 2.35:1 is incorrect.
21/9 = 2.33:1
They are using this format because they want these phones to be the go-to pocketable multimedia device. The aspect ratio is not what's wrong with their phones. I grew to like it even after using it in store and I am now considering getting their flagship.
What's holding me back though is the pricing for what you get, lack of a 6" FHD+ flagship, lack of front-facing stereo speakers and their ridiculous decision to separate the fingerprint sensor and power button worldwide to have it work in a market that doesn't even care about their devices.
