The company issues official statement, following reports from earlier today.

Just think with your head for two entire seconds.

Huawei is backed financialy and logisticaly by chinese goverment. The ties are well documented and obvious.

Huawei became a bit too buissness agressive in last year or two, all over the world. A bit too suspiciously outgrowing.
As if, they "anticipated" every single move from non chinese comm tech companies.
Highly suspicious of industry espionage.

And technology is anything but trivial in that matter.
Google and Apple have been doing it for US with their OS for years now, and they are well aware what power mobile tech has.

Of course suspicions and US national security were alarmed about it. You cant just give Chinese gov BigBrother so much "space" to information gathering.

This is the result.

Europes national securities will probably follow this kind of "protection" in some way.

But they ll still leave us to googles all around inspections.

Both are bad, but better only one than two BigBorthers watching.

Walter C. Dornez, 20 May 2019Very true. However, what does this mean short term? It's Ch... moreChina already has their own OS, which is Android.
And China already has their own Play Store, basically based on Xiaomi/Baidu/Huawei services.

However, both of these are heavily Chinese-focused. Even somewhere close like Vietnam, they do not want these Chinese services, they want the "global rom" if that makes sense. So any of these Chinese OEMs using these OS/Services in the lucrative European market would be destined to fail.

So for the short-term, it means throwing in the towel and giving up.
In the long-term? Well its a case of too little, too late... but basically these Multi-Billion Dollar technology companies have to put their differences aside and help create an alternative. That means making a Hard-Fork of the open-source project of Android, to create their own Kernel/OS like the Amazon Fire devices. And it means upholding the underdogs, and open-source alternatives for services such as: Messaging, Search, eMail, Payments, Media player, Navigation, Video providers, and Cloud Systems.

Think of like it was 2009, and Nokia joined forces with Nvidia (instead of Intel) and they developed their new OS called MeeGo. And for services they used OVI Store for Apps, DuckDuckGo for Search, OpenMaps for Navigation, Veoh for video providers, Kik for messaging, Yahoo for email, VLC media player, DropBox for Cloud storage, Square Payments, and LibreOffice Work applications.

Now they could drop that hypothetical Nokia N9 device in any continent and it would not be destined to fail. And if a corporation as large as Nokia had gotten its act together, it may have licensed these services or bought them out, then fleshed-them out properly under a unified ecosystem (say like "OVI Pay, OVI Store, OVI cloud, OVI mail, OVI messenger, OVI Search, OVI Suite, OVI Maps, OVI player, OVEoh streaming, etc etc)... well, it could have really been a force to be reckoned with. However, that did not happen and we never got alternatives to Googles services. So there's nothing like that for Huawei to fall back on. In the meantime, since 2008-2011 (and demise of Nokia), Google improved and strengthened their services, and using phones as a medium have made them basically a monopoly. On top of that, the Stock Android OS is "littered" with the Play Services, and removing it is a very difficult task, and causes bugs if you do remove them. Hence, why we need to "flash" the Gapps into phones from the recovery, instead of a simple sideload/install. Best way to describe is that Android has all these "hooks" that are designed for the Play Store, baked into the kernel and Operating System.

And in fact China is very innovative on some fronts. It's known that the have better development around AI software for instance.

Galaxy Fold might get a good head-start against the Mate X this way.

On a side note, this might be another trap for Huawei to force them to pay some money to the US in the same way they did with ZTE.

Now every big vertically integrated companies like Samsung with see this as a warning and will act accordingly. Seriously, Huawei is the 2nd biggest maker last quarter. Did Google realize what they have done?
