If HW can survive this incident, that means China have enough resource to create mobile phones and ecosystem by themself. All Chinese mobile phones will be cheaper in the next generation. This is very good for us consumers.

After that, people will classify HUAWEI / HONOR phones as outdated phones because they use an outdated chip in the phones.

jek, 22 May 2019I like how the Chinese government has been quietly observin... moreLMFAO great idea..all Qualcomm snapdragon chips should also be banned in China since they’re ARM based. China can then regress much quicker.

This may not last long, but new OS and processor tech they develop themselves will and money will stay in China. It's actually positive development.
                  Finally some alternative.

I started to think does the computers (windows or macOS) in Huawei HQ would even be supported by licensed anymore since the new policy strictly said not making business with Huawei. Everything shutting down. Can't get work done at all without US.

Anonymous, 22 May 2019But RISC-V is American too isn't it ? Yes. But it is open source, like Android. So Huawei is ok to use it.
However, RISC-V not fully matured yet.

                      Huawei is stuck for now!

Anonymous, 22 May 2019Sorry for Huawei. Shame on Trump.Trust me when I say this won't last too long since trump's administration hardly can keep its promises or regulations for that matter.

The Kirin 980 & 985 are quite new, so Huawei should be ok for a couple of years. By that time they should be able to come up with a solution.
ARM is only stopping support on new SoC.

In my opinion, HUAWEI is 99% dead now as he loss both Android and ARM now.

No ARM means no new Kirin chip. Even HUAWEI still can use the current Kirin 985 / 980 and 710 chips, but these chips will become outdated one day.

Some new and powerful chips will come out from their competitors like Qualcomm and SAMSUNG Exynos.

It's time the world sets it foot down and stop America from screwing up world trade and development whenever they have something to gain from it.

Put sanctions on America for once, and force them realize they need the world far more than the world needs them.

Glad to see 3rd operating system without relying on ARM.

BTW if China decline to export rare earth metal to U.S. then this also deal huge blow to U.S. too, you have tech and patent but not enough material to build.

I don't see any benefit from Trump, soon will feel like world are stepping back 10 years.
