Try to use some sharing apps like Shareit or Transfer Wizard, etc. to both android phones. You can transfer files including Apps from one android to android lets say Samsung to Huawei knowing that they're still under the same OS. You can keep the .apks on your internal storage and simply install it anytime you want. It also works from iPhone to Android but works only with pictures/media can't install apps.

Europe’s biggest phone company identified hidden backdoors in the software that could have given Huawei unauthorized access to the carrier’s fixed-line network in Italy, a system that provides internet service to millions of homes and businesses, according to Vodafone’s security briefing documents from 2009 and 2011

LOL people you don't have to be afraid of no updates.. I've been using my A916 with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat till today.. No problem.. Social apps works fine.. Navigation apps works fine.. Games works fine.. Web browser works fine.. Multimedia editing works fine.. Document editing works fine.. What more would you ask for from your device? I'll be getting the Mate 20/P30 Pro if the price is low enough.. And I'm sure it will last me at least 5 years even with no update.. Even if the connection to Google Play is severed there are other app stores and sideloading apps is easy..

P/S: Update Mentality is just to force users to buy new phones every year.. If you have an older Android device in your stash try to power it on and use it.. You will be surprised

There's no alternative other than letting the chinese OEM inside USA because they already have 100's of millions invested in the machinery and R&D instead of letting them and now banning them american should'nt have collaborated with the chinese OEM they do this because they save a lot of money and simply ban the company when they get to know the truth chinese are always spying no matter what there's no electronics industry without china

Anonymous, 27 May 2019whoever thinks this matter will be resolved is stupid. Huaw... moreDon't go offensive by saying that others are stupid when it seems that you are lacking some informations. Trump is the one that said that the ban can be lifted if he make a good deal with huawei. You can read this and you'll know that trump didn't ban huawei because of spying
"Huawei is something that’s very dangerous. You look at what they’ve done from a security standpoint, from a military standpoint, it’s very dangerous. So it’s possible that Huawei even would be included in some kind of trade deal. If we made a deal, I could imagine Huawei being possibly included in some form, some part of a trade deal."
This is the link if you don't believe that trump said that

Anonymous, 26 May 2019Uncertain platform? Oh really? Why non huawei users thinks ... morethe "uncertain platform" he was referring to a new os huawei may work with to replace android. the os huawei has been developing for several years now called "hongmeng" has never really took off because of lack of support from devs. attempts of other companies to put out alternative to android (i.e. sailfish, tizen) likewise died because of lack of support from devs, and some of these, unlike hongmeng, did see the light of day by being in marketed devices- thus "uncertain platform".

After moving to China I kind of paniced losing access to google services but after a year or two I couldn't really care.

Apps can still be downloaded and installed without play store.

The reason big companies screw over it's users is they become too big and rely on patents to corner the market. As long as android os plays nice people will follow. When they stars to screw around it will be the start of its downfall.

Anonymous, 27 May 2019whoever thinks this matter will be resolved is stupid. Huaw... moreWell, well, well. US government doesn't actually have substantial proof of what they are claiming that they are spying, on the contrary, the US spies on its people as well as other countries. As for proof? Take for example Edward Snowden, an CIA/NSA contractor who was a whistle-blower due to the fact that the US government spies its people.

Huawei better grandfather the phone by unlocking its bootlockers
but then again, this may open up their software for scrutiny

[deleted post]This is well documented! The Americans have no reason to let these Chinese go. Too many countries are pushing the USA for a Chinese punishment.

You have better odds at the casino than keeping an obsolete Huawei device.

App store, well there is App Gallery app store already on the phone and non US vendors can in theory post their apps to that.
Google maps, can be replaced with alternatives.
Mail, you do not need the gmail app to use an existing gmail account.
Google Duo, can be replaced with many of the non US alternatives, Wire and Viber for example.
And for OS, we have ASOP plus some alternatives and the one I really want to sre is Jolla Sailfish so dual OS is a nice possibility.
For chips, Huawei can source memory from elsewhere in china or TSMC can start making it it can also. Of concern to others should be Chinas response to this ban which could have a mich bigger impact, remember almost every device is assmbled in China so it can be if needed ask the Govenment just take what it needed without paying.
