Shanti Dope, 31 May 2019It's more profit strategy.
They figured that Apple is sell... moreWhat costs could this save them? Probably cents. With flagships, they can always increase the price by few dollars and they will have bigger profit per unit and still more sales than they would without the jack.
Removing it makes no sense, there must be something else (Insanity? Those people at key positions, they really are sick).

Samsung ... moreIt's more profit strategy.
They figured that Apple is selling very well despite removing those key features, while Samsung doesn't do that much better even with far more features, so to cut cost and save some money, they remove these essential stuff, knowing that they'd still sell decently even without the..

Anonymous, 31 May 2019And why do you need fast charging if you have big enough ba... moreYes indeed. First step was to make the battery non-replacable, and the excuse was water resistance. But if there is water damage, of course you do not get a fix or replacement. You still have to take care of your phone. Then they realized that the battery lasts too long to motivate people to buy a new smartphone regularly. They invented fast charging which generates additional heat and reduces battery life. People like the feature because it reduces the need of planning. They do not realize the real motivation. A large battery means less wear because there will be less recharging. Fortunately, people ask for this. Removing the headphone jack in order to provide faster charging makes economic sense for Samsung. It will make them lose customers like me who care for the environment and audio quality, and do not want more batteries in bluetooth headsets or service interruption because of the shared media.

"and soon there won't be any handset on the market with a headphone jack."
Don't count on it. I don't see anything wrong with Headphone jack.

I don't care if it ends up having an SoC revision with Samsung's 7nm Euv process and Mali g77 GPU.
This is unacceptable. Especially with their new battery tech around the corner.
Way to utterly ruin and destroy the closest thing to a no compromise note and flagship line we will get.
For the love of God you shouldn't drop the jack at all. Despite what all these narrow minded easily manipulated people claim majority know the jack is important.
However if you are going to at least wait until after you get your 7nm Euv process SoC and new battery tech out. Jeez.

Anonymous, 31 May 2019Usbc wired headphones out people calm downThanks, but no, thanks. I want to be able to listen and charge at the same time. Also i don't want to damage my charging port when cable gets stuck somewhere (The usb port is really not designed for this kind of usage). And i want to be able to use the same pair of headphones with my PC too.
Too many compromises, for what exactly?
I just won't be buing a flagship and will enjoy more features from a more practical device.

blah blah blah ... IceUniverse already confirmed buttons will be there. The design without buttons did not pass Samsung's guidelines for this year. So .. yeah buttons will stay but headphone jack highly doubtful though !!

r33fd, 31 May 2019I really don't get this. Please enlighten me. Samsung ... moreThere must be a deeper conspiracy here, all companies hate the jack with such passion, it really doeesn't make sense as it doesn't save them any money (Well a few cents) Removing sd slots would make them more money as people will be forced to buy bigger storage, and yet they still don't do that (Besides Apple), yet they are removing a feature that doesn't make any difference for them. Something is seriously not right here.

Samsung was long praised for keeping the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
It's pretty much the only flagship to still do so apart from lg and that is a selling point.
Why give up on it?
It is not like Samsung makes a lot of money from wireless headphones.
