Sony mobile should have had a beast patent lawyer to appropriate their inventions properly and sue every copycat company including iPhone Samsung and huawei. Their failure will be included in the business management lectures of the future.

they are right. too bad their anti-developer DRM-strict bootloaders suck ass. Also their updates suck. they left older models abandoned. no thank you. i prefer an updated nokia with less features than this

Sad to see the current state of Sony but, if anyone used it in the past, this maker had the best devices out there in its prime. S6 design language started it well for Samsung but Sony was just amazing. Still miss my Sony Xperia X. Overpriced for the SoC but, boy it made up with so many other things! Every device has it's pros and cons but, this company brought innovation in the mobile space.

That's funny because a lot of people have the opposite opinion. Always expressing Sony has the same old design - just a slab, nothing new. Some reviewers are already saying that...
You just can't win. There will always be things people criticize, which isn't a Sony thing.

Pabliell, 01 Jun 2019Thank you Sony, for bringing an unnecessarily high resoluti... morelol, the one who bringing unnecessarily resolution screen to smartphones isn't sony first but every phones manufacturer, they brag by bringing 1080p and 1440p and people whining demanding more resolution to their phones while we can see even some laptop are still 736p on 13,3 inch display. Sony just simply response by putting 4K screen for this screen resolution competition to gain market, and phones arent getting hotter bcause 4K screen but because running heavy-demanding apps like game, and thanks to Sony, it was them who comes out with the idea putting heatsink on SoC then other just following Sony solution to deal with SoC heat problems.
The first manufacturer who use glass sandwich design isn't Sony, but apple, and don't forget it was bcause apple now we can have gorilla glass on our smartphone. The one who popularizing the glass sandwich design is also not Sony (maybe apple) also other phones uses glass sandwich because they can't put NFC and wireless charging on metal body phones, so eventually glass sandwich design become trend on the market.

as a former Sony user it saddens me to see where Sony is headed with their outdated marketing skills and phones.there are way important aspects to a phone than changing the ratio of the size

I don't think Sony's mobile division is in any position to brag about anything. It has been on a constant downfall since a few years now. It is barely surviving.
Sony should work on improving their sales rather than experimenting with unorthodox ideas.

Innovative or not, Sony's phones have always been priced simply too high, in such a competitive market. And for someone who manufactures the camera sensors used by pretty much everybody, it's a shame that they haven't been able to come up with good software to go with it.
