Samsung Galaxy Note10 will come with physical buttons after all, but no headphone jack

01 June 2019
Samsung did test a design without the physical buttons, but it didn't pass the company's "rigorous testing."

Wired headphones are past and maybe couple more years and only cheap phones will still carry headphone jack.

Like Mate series, it was supposed to be for advanced users who are not looking for a fashionphone (there already are s series for Samsung and P series for Huawei....makes no sense to havemultiple series targeted at the same crowd), so they'd have zero problem with more thickness. And the rest can buy the fashiophone series...

P30 Pro has 4200mAh battery, 40W fast charging, 15W fast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging in a reasonably thin 8.4mm body, and lacks a headphone jack only because the company decided to put a SIM card slot on a place where a headphone was supposed to be (unlike regular P30 that has one on the side and a jack on the bottom). With the display measuring 6.67 inch according to rumour, Note 10 will be a lot larger than P30 Pro, so surely it's not impossible to put slightly larger battery and faster charging at an expense of thinness.

Besides, people want fast charging because they can never count on a day of usage. With big enough batteey, there's no need for charging through the day.

Compromised must be done. I assumed that what happened to Samsung decision making since people want bigger battery and faster charging at the same time. Add wireless and reverse charging to that specs. The most battery-centric flagship ever.

            Well, no.

Don't blame us consumers, blame the companies who actually listened to them and made a BS decision.

How do you use and get around a phone with no buttons? Also, I pray to God. Do not let them ax the headphone jack. Not since Google brought it back with the Pixel 3a.

You sound like the tech reviewers (who just read specs off a piece of paper) that said sealed batteries make the phone slim and sexy as well as waterproof? And then proceed to use an ugly case to cover up their pretty devices.

Heck, only a few ones called out LG for the stupid battery design of the G8.

And literally nobody calling out Microsoft for selling non repairable trash called Surfaces?

It has become a trend in the tech world for companies to build their businesses on enthusiasts' money.

Then proceed to spit on them when the normie crowd money comes in.

Much like how the Android community is now insulting anyone with the modding spirit since Android is sinking to the level of IOS when it comes to developments.

But to be frank, they're just making poor choices.

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2019You do not understand that all of us here on these forums a... moreI just love the "you're the minority" arguement.

One day, you see a cheap on-ear headphones in the mall, a Sennheiser maybe and you go "dang looks like a steal" and find out it's wired. Your phone doesn't have a jack and you forgot to bring your dongle. You can't try it.
Sure, you can say "I'll bring it with me next time" but wouldn't that be uh, inconvenient? If you could've just try it there on the spot if your phone has a jack?

Or if you look at it in another angle, the headphone has BOTH a 3.5mm port-and-cable and Bluetooth connectivity, would you say that it's a great convenience if you can use both types of connection methods?

Why can't your phone do the same?

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2019Now the Sammyboys will say jack is obsolete. LOLSammyboys (like me) mate with the headphone jack everyday, they'd defend its existence, not its removal.

We're just Apple fanboys, but not dumb. Sort of.

It's only clocked to 18W so the headphone jack is spared. Nowadays, the community is bullying Samsung for faster charging so Samsung gave in and offered a 45W fast charging and with that, they are sacrificing the jack for more space. Asus made it possible plus it even has DTS:X on their headphone jack which makes my Audio Technica ATH-M50X useful.

I mean, 18W is nothing compared to 45W, tenfold.

Whackcar, 01 Jun 2019How about the Zenfone 6 then? It is slightly smaller than N... moreI believe that is the reason why Samsung didn't remove it before: just a trend.
And if you want to talk sales figures with the dongle, 1) we'd buy 3rd-party, 2) the jack, anecdotally, is the sole reason people stay with Samsung/LG.

If they do remove it, Samsung will lose customers, since they don't have the ecosystem and fanboy power of Apple to back up that decision. Everyone would've just jump ship to LG.

Andy93, 01 Jun 2019"...what it will be missing out on will be the 3.5 mm headp... moreLenovo P2 has no >20W fast charging. Fast charging capabilities thickens the battery and the "mah" inside the battery isn't even accounted for the thickness yet. If they release it with let's say 30W - 40W, then there's no space to fit it in so they will either be called out for having a brick of a phone or having no jack. They'll take the latter.

Having no headphone jack is the price to pay for a 45W Fast charging and a big battery to boot. Thanks to you guys bullying companies for 4k or 5k mah with 30W to 50W battery and charging, they have to do it but sacrifice the jack because they saw it as the least important part of the motherboard.

Asus did say that adding faster charging will thicken the battery even more and that is when the amount of "mah" is not accounted for.
