Samsung Galaxy Note10 will come with physical buttons after all, but no headphone jack

01 June 2019
Samsung did test a design without the physical buttons, but it didn't pass the company's "rigorous testing."

The only thing Samsung can do to redeem themselves is add the headphone jack onto the head of the S-Pen with the AKG DAC. Imagine, the pen is in the phone, you get direct sound. Pop out the phone, and through the pen's Bluetooth-ness, you still listen to music while you're scribbling so the headphones don't get in the way. That would be ingenious.

Still sucky news. Guess LG's getting some of these customers with their V50.

I don't care if a 6.4" phone with 16:9 ratio and giant battery is thick, I will always defend Functionality > Looks/Thinness. Here's hoping HTC does something good or Razer comes back for at least ONE more phone now that Project Lynda is dead. Razer phone 3 with a larger screen, IZGO display, microSD slot, IP67, Wireless charging, cooling solution, and 5,500mAH battery...what a dream that would be.

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2019Mate 20X has more than 1 cm than note9How about the Zenfone 6 then? It is slightly smaller than Note9 & yet has 5000 mAh battery + super fast charging (QC4) + moving parts + headphone jack.

Samsung is only removing the jack due to the trend. No other reason.

The only disturbing pa... moreIt does not work fine, because you can't listen and charge and there are no decent 2 in one adaptors, not sure a decent adaptor to charge and listen is even possible or it is technically impossible to have quick charge and decend sound at the same time.

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2019Mate 20X has more than 1 cm than note9Maybe, but its not a problem at all. Im sure most people prefer big battery and give a shit about 1mm :-D

10 years ago of course charging ports was very important. If you still stuck there then wake up."

                      See what i did there?

I'm not a headphone jack fan, but I'm making a point anyway.

[deleted post]Hey, it was bound to happen one day. The only disturbing part is the fact that there was no valid reasoning for removing it. They're only doing it because it is the trend to do it.

Personally for me, USB-C headphones &/or USB-C to 3.5mm dongle works just fine.

Wireless headphones are not good enough for me yet, no lossless audio & charging inconvenience is not something i want to deal with.

Not that it matters to me because I already use wired USB-C headphones. Thanks to Google for packaging one in the box with a Pixel 3. And I can eventually use them when I get another MacBook.

The headphone jack thing is overblown and overrated. Get over it. It's gone. But just to be safe, buy wired ones. I don't trust more expensive wireless ones. Saves way more battery life.

You also don't want to keep replacing them with their non-removable batteries. Just more disposable junk that companies like Apple want to see you buy for $159 a pop.

iComment, 01 Jun 2019Headphone jacks are useless nowadays because of multiplicit... moreWhat am I supposed to 'wake up' to?

That the wired headphones do not need to be charged separately?
That the wired headphones provide more reliable connectivity?
That the wired headphones provide better sound quality?

Granted the wireless ones do not tangle, though.

Removing the jack, because they want a bigger battery, such a mega joke and lie.
Right now i have the Mate 20X with a jack stick and 5000mah battery and its 8,2mm thick.
So Sammy boys, try tell us a better story then this hilarious one.
but even if I have the jack i never use it, i prefer my BT kit now... Im sure in a 2-3 years jack will leave us totally.

What i could dream of is a Note model with a 7.2 inch display or even better a 6.8 16:9 model and yeesss im still keep dreaming... i know.
