Sony Xperia 1R (J8220) UA profile points to a 5K display, 5,040 x 2,160px

17 July 2019
The 4K screen on the Xperia 1 already has a higher pixel density than the HTC Vive Pro VR headset. The 1R will push further.

This is getting ridiculous, people are already having a very hard time distinguishing 3.8K resolution on Xperia 1 and 3K resolution on Galaxy S10, and now Sony is already moving onto 5K? I would be furious if this phone didn't come with a 8 inch panel at least.
Also with a power hungry resolution like this, 4000mAh is a bare minimum required capacity for its battery. Anything smaller means less than a day battery life.

That they work or not is another thing, but accusing Chinese companies of not trying to innovate is like saying Apple is affordable.

5K screen OMG. But that needs to be 21:9 for immersive viewing

Great, 5k screen with 3300 mAh battery (because Sony).

Sony Fanboys: I will really enjoy that pixel-dense screen for 90 minutes a day! Because my eyes are sharper than that of an eagle! I am so excited that I am going to support SONY on all tech websites (but I would never PAY to buy ONE, as you can probably make out from the absent Sony mobile division profits).
I hereby pledge to blindly continue supporting Sony, and I hope they keep making phones that REALLY listen to the user. Because I HAVE conducted a survey(and you all should know that I am right because Sony) and I found that people really prefer to have a display with no REAL-WORLD benefits over, say, more storage or two-day battery life!
Also, a professional Cine Video app is SO important because I am creative-types, you know and even though I really don't know anything about vlogging or video editing, I am really gonna pretend on these forums on how essential this app is for the survival of mankind.
On the other hand, leaving out a headphone jack is the best SOny decision in a long time, even though 75% people want one.
But those people are stupid. I am smart. Listen to me. Mark my words (which I type from my Galaxy S10/ iPhone), that Sony is going to rise again and conquer the smartphone WORLD!!! MWHAHAHAHAHA!

Idk why Sony keeps stuffing those pixels into a very small screen that nobody can tell the difference. Not to mention the abysmal battery life as the result

This doesn't make sense to be released at FIFA with a 5K screen.
Based on the time frame they will announce an update to the xz3 not a replacement to the Xperia 1, that's my guess. Possibly a compact model as well.

Or this will be their 5G variant of the Xperia 1 with an updated resolution, camera, battery life and 855s

According to recent studies to achieve realism on a screen, not only calibration is important, apparently a higher pixel density produces a more real image and with more depth even in short distances. That is why Sony and Samsung are pushing 8K tvs.

I found this about Xperia 1 ... reliable source

" The Sony Xperia 1 has an extremely excellent mobile phone display. Although its brightness is not as high as that of other top-of-the-line mobile OLED displays, its brightness uniformity is astonishing 99%, the DeltaE2000 has only 0.8, and the grayscale is only 1.2, APL50. The blood of the tested chicken reached 640 cd/m2. At the same time, the PPI of this screen exceeded 600. Even if your vision is optimal, it is difficult to see the pixels on this screen."

Sony will bring Xperia with 8K screen before Apple uses QHD.
                                  No doubt.
But will still be cheaper than this iphone, of course.

So to be frank, 4K resolution should be the standard on premium/flagship phones as it would render the most beautifully accurate picture ever but it needs to be greatly optimized to be very efficient, not so power hungry and then we can enjoy it all...
