It needs 6GB, without a doubt. But snore importantly, they need decent sized batteries. With no headphone jack, they need something. Let's face it, the camera will be great, but it won't be a revolution, it'll be a little bit better. So, to keep demanding the crazy price, they need to up specs elsewhere. I also think they'd get better press if they launched earlier. Close to Black Friday is suicide

4GB is fine. Im using 2 phones with 4GB RAM each and my usage is only at 2.6 max. The minimun ram available i have is at 1.4
Who needs to open and use a lot of apps and games. Sigh..

The Pixel phones have always been behind it's competitors. When everyone has moved to triple (or quad) camera setup, Pixel will move to dual (which is already shameful for the company that claimed you don't need more than 1 camera just last year). Their phones will always be behind in specs (underclocked CPUs, less RAM, less storage options), unattractive designs, and unadvanced software (clean Android can be advanced too, such as Oxygen OS).
The worst part is the backtracking Google does on their words. They made fun of Apple for removing the headphone jack, then they removed it next year. They made fun of the notch, then they added the ugliest notch on their next phone. Then they mocked multi-camera phones, only to adapt it next year.
I assure you the Pixel 5 will have a triple camera setup & 8GB of RAM, because that continues this trend. Maybe they'll make fun of the hole punch this year so they can add it to their phone next year. That's Google for you.
And fanboys, please don't get offended. I've only stated facts.

If they put only 6GB of RAM, gonna have to skip this Pixel too and switch to a better phone(maybe iPhone since you get 5 years of OS updates and is generally more secure - even though I don't like the OS in general).

That's the beauty of Gaming Phones like the Red Magic 3 and ROG 2. At least for the price of the Pixel, you can get one of those instead with MUCH better hardware, battery, RAM, and Hard Drive space.

One more reason to increase the price of pixel phone by few hundred dollars! Google should either reduce the price of their phones to $699-$749 or extend the software support upto 5 years. 3 year of OS updates and further 2 years of security updates. Nobody will pay $1000+ for 2 -3 years of software support. Now onwards, minimum specifications for other OEM's Android phones should be increase to 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. No more 2/3GB and 16/32GB phones.

But iPhone or iOS is widely known for aggressive background processing limitation.+ There are other benefit of large RAM amount. Just look at OnePlus. AND, if they charge premium price, they better deliver premium specs.

Most phones start killing processes long before 4GB RAM is used. My phone has 8GB ram and hardly ever uses more than 2GB.
