Rumor: Google is ready to fully embrace 2017, fitting the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL with 6GB of RAM

18 July 2019
It's a very small step for humanity (and the mobile world), but a huge one for Google.

Come on... google is forced by other competitors to put that 6gb ram. Every other smartphone is giving 6gb ram which has become standard & if Google ignores it then they won't sell as much devices. if samsung, lg, sony, nokia, Huawei had not raised their flagship's base ram to 6gb/8gb probably google wouldn't have considered raising the standard.
Now launch price will be increased.
For me what these Chinese manufacturers doing seems like hiding their os optimisation failures with more ram..

paco2x, 19 Jul 2019A good optimized system will not need too much RAM. If you ... moreUnfortunately Pixel ain't iPhone, they definitely need more RAM as the 3 series have clearly shown.

dbjungle, 19 Jul 2019This article is so troll. 4GB is still more than fine. 6G... moreTell that to the pixel 3 series that has performance hiccups constantly, regularly.

Syer1n, 19 Jul 2019Nobody asked for 12gb ram. Pixel do just fine with 4 and st... moreDon't be delusional, pixel 3 xl with 4gb RAM clearly has performance issue.

6GB is enough, for now, but not future proof. for gamers like us, 4GB is not enough. for this high end and so "affordable", please, make it 8GB....

A lot of those 2017 phones were cheap Chinese makes using low powered ddr3 ram. This was the upper midrange "ram war", a pre-cursor to the current "megapixel race". GSMArena once again knocking brands that aren't Samsung or Chinese makes... CLAP...CLAP...

A good optimized system will not need too much RAM. If you add lots of crap like fancy effects, bloatware with activity tracking - telemetry... Of course the phone will need 8GB of ram or even more.

Excellent article. Someone needs to bash Google and it cannot be the fanboys!

You'll never want a Pixel unless you've had a 3rd party accessory which needs both hardware and software optimized for its full potential, for example, a Gimbal.

I've no probs with 6gb of RAM and 128gb of storage. The thing that bugs me is when they price it as though it has a 12/512 combo. That's disturbing. I ain't spending that kind of money for a camera that is no doubt very good, but limited in funtionality (manual mode at least?). I like the design though. Bezel, notch, holes, none of it has ever been an issue for me

Pixel 4 is going to flop like the Pixel 3 did. At least my Pixel 3 looks better even with its anemic 4 GB RAM. Best smartphone I ever had. I only stick to Pixel even if Google moves in a snail pace. The other OEMs don't offer me the same smooth software experience out of the box.

You only need for 4gb of ram? Then go but a low end device. This is supposed to be a flagship. ..and you're sure paying flagship prices.

This article is so troll. 4GB is still more than fine. 6GB is optimal. 8GB+ is wasteful.

                                Yawn... Pixel.

Wake me up when Google puts in a headphone jack, durable design and lowers the price... ...without getting rid of the front-speakers, large battery, and constant/extended software updates.

Umm, last time I looked, BGR was an Apple zealot site. They cut up and put down anything Android or Google. So I wouldn't trust anything from BGR.

Ok. Who cares? 6GB of RAM is not that bad.

Google try to justify their premium price by making a number bigger than the previous one. RAM is cheap for them to add.

If your smartphone requires more RAM than your PC, something is wrong.
