[deleted post]Their after-sales support is most likely a big factor too. It basically does not exist where I live, but the devices still cost an arm and leg... Not an appealing deal.

The Chinese have officially taken over the smartphone market with innovation and cheaper prices. Samsung will be out of the market in 5 years. Apple can hold on longer because of their closed off system, but still only have 10 years left.

I wish them renewed strength. I believe there is a market for phones that dont always follow the heard but that have a unique quirky, bit of character. That doesn't mean pop up motors and the rest of it all but timeless style that up with the specs etc but oozes personality.

It's not Sony's fault, but due to the current situation where Chinese cellphones are scattered at lower prices. If previously Chinese mobile phones were of very poor quality, now they have changed. They improve the quality but at an affordable price. There is no hope for Sony. In fact, it is not impossible that one day the Iphone will lose its market share. Only Samsung is the only vendor that will survive because Samsung has built a very strong network. Samsung Service Centers are everywhere and they are friends with customers.

                    No one:
Sony: Lets remove the headphone jack and give them 21:9 screen that only 5% of content will take advantage of.

Too many bias reviewer spread bad news, because they don't want Sony to be good. I found this reviewer is more authentic, most of the reviewer just spread bad and hide the good things, especially from the China reviewer, they have many keywords (mostly gimmick) to bashing Sony, because they want (to lure) you to watch their reviews.

Shui8, 02 Aug 2019Actually, apart from the fps location, i kinda love XZ2 des... moreThe downfall of Sony Mobile has to do with Kaz Hirai's past strategies to Sony Mobile and managements behind Sony Mobile. For the former, I think Kaz Hirai did right about transparency and independence on every division when Sony crisis struck, but he was wrong when he assigned a strong barrier between division, especially towards Sony Mobile.

Sony Alpha refusal to assist worsened the situation, no wonder Sony Xperia's camera not par with their Alpha for years before Xperia 1 arrival, as a barrier between division prevented them. That barrier "shouldn't exist" since the first time. I'm fine with independence between division, but not preventing divisions from collaboration, especially critical features, like camera performance. The latter, well, post 2nd gen of X-series (2016), management did well. But after it, it was off-radar.

Anonymous, 02 Aug 2019Doubt it's the z5 series to blame. Heard a lot of bad real ... moreI rather said Xperia Z3+ and Snapdragon 810 woes were to blame here, and headlines of news of Z3+ suffered a lot in overheating, with the much-biased title didn't make it better. Z5 was a refined Z3+, with double copper heat pipe as the overheating solution. During Z3+ and Z5 era, Sony Mobile still advertised their phone. Only when Xperia X series where ads non-existent. Sales start to drop then. Xperia 1, however, was advertised in Japan. That was with my own eyes, tho it was just the basic.

Ugly design, bad and tiny innovation, to expensive phone vs the specs.

Sad because, many brands, big competition, good for customers.

XZ2 in my perspective should retain the back curve while keeping the squarish-corner alive. It's like XZ1 chassis with XZ2 back cover, that could at least save some fans back then.

Shui8, 02 Aug 2019Actually, apart from the fps location, i kinda love XZ2 des... moreWell, dude. 40-50% of Sony fans voiced their disappointment when Xperia XZ2 released and mostly because of they forgot XZ2 design was a homage to Xperia Neo vibe-design from 8 years ago, and those rounded instead of squarish design, and lack of 3.5mm did drive away those fans who reached their low-point on 2018 Xperia, which's around 20-30%. XZ2P and XZ3 only sweeten it for few short time (XZ2P because was one of the last 16:9 phone and impressive dual-cam, XZ3 because of OLED and one of the highest STB phone (80.5%) with front-facing stereo speakers).

No wonder, 2018 was the only year where XA series did get some much love from their fans, especially XA2 Ultra & Plus, because the squarish design and 3.5mm stay.

2019 did fix a lot of things, and it did, tho for many, it was a baby step. But I did find it, at least some improvements. Bringing back the Xperia-Z design, bringing all their EP&S and other divisions to work on the 2019 lineup Xperia, returning the side FPS, standardized USB-PD fast charging, dual-cam on all range, revamped what's inside on the box, starting with X1 (included a silicon-case and 18W USB-PD) and others. Wrongdoing? Present, but it's getting better by time passed on.

I don't know, I'm still cautiously optimistic, but I'll see more Q4 2019 to next year. At least, Xperia 10th anniversary was a reality tho.
