The company anticipated the backlash, and thus had a few reasons at the ready.

Sam, 08 Aug 2019They are not dead because they are still used, manufactured... moreWell said, yes of course the SD card & 3.5mm jack are not dead, they're alive & kicking, I would never need to use or buy any cloud, dongle/double dongle to charge at the same time, or BT receiver for my car/ home hifi aux.

    "Here's why the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ don't have a headphone jack"
answer: They didn't intend to put headphone jack since beginning, one of solid proof is Samsung Galaxy Book S, it's a 13 inch laptop powered by snapdragon but doesn't have headphone jack

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2019People like you caused that b.shit. There is no reason to ... moreUSB - C headphones work just as good as 3.5mm jack ones do and it's nice of Samsung to include them.

Lots of people are also saying that they haven't looked back ever since they tried BT headphones.

So, you have right to not buy something just because it lacks the headphone jack. Same way how other people have right to buy something lacking the jack.
But we all know, the same way how floppy discs and CD's became pretty much extinct - so will headphone jack.

I'm not happy for that change either, but my current smartphone has a headphone jack. And by the time I'll need a new smartphone there will be some improvements, if nothing else - BT headphones will be cheaper.

removed the headphone jack, increased the battery capacity.
used a Bluetooth headphone, drain the battery faster..
          fair enough...

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2019Or they could have added 1mm thickness and add a headphone ... moreYes, I've always said utiilise depth, bigger battery, sensor, lenses, speakers, heat pipe, more space for better everything, not comprimises & excuses, big mistake to drop the jack on the Note series which I consider a multitool/ Swiss army knife.
As long as it's less than 10mm in depth, what's the problem.

mazrim, 08 Aug 2019Yep Samsung are talking bollocks here, if its for the batte... more"Why not remove the S-pen".
This is a stupid comment. There's the S series for that. What is it with people like you wanting features that others use removed?
The headphone jack should still stay though.

Unless Samsung will release a new enthusiast phone line-up with a headphone jack, it is unlikely that they'd remove it in the S11. I reckon, they would go this path soon as the Galaxy S is mainstream and probably 20-30% of S owners use the headphone jack.

I really don't like to go bluetooth for earphones, so inconvenient and less audio quality.

You know what Samsung? I've have taken the hit in battery size and the loss of the haptic feedback for a headphone jack socket.
Maybe if you'd added some slim bezels as well, you could have squeezed all three in. But you didn't do I won't be buying the Note 10.

rObBeR, 08 Aug 2019first of all 3.5 is an analog port. Doesn't output lossless... moreWhat you are saying is non-sense. Off course the headphone jack port is "analog". How do you think that the drivers of your headphone work ? Variations of voltage. The important part, is that there's not an other intermediary step that further degrade sound quality.
With bluetooth , a LOSSY AND DIGITAL, data is transmited to a DAC built in your headphone, and ultimately converted again to ANALOG. Because how your headphone could work without an analog electric signal ? There's no other technology today.

AFAIK there's no current bluetooth codec that are lossless. What is suggested is higher sampling rate, and bits per sample. So a sense of "HD audio", but still not just a plain transmission of signal (HD or not) . I don't care of HD anyways. And I don't find Bluetooth that much convenient. It's just like the wireless mouse on Pc, that's just annoying.

I don't know how do they architect the phone but while others could make 5000mAh even with the headphone jack. This +100mAh sound really lame.

Doesn't output lossless... moreaccording to audio experts, the only lossless codec for bluetooth so far is sony's ldac. others like aac and aptx-hd are still lossy. now, the thing with ldac is that it requires more power and thus there are only a few bluetooth headphones that uses it, because it requires big battery capacity. aside from that, even with bluetooth 5.0, there still is noticeable lag on ldac.

with usb-c port, audio indeed can be lossless and my razer phone 2's adapter actually has thx certified dac built-in (i think some oems supply usb-c audio adapter as well). i even think that usb-c outputs better quality music than wired headsets. the problem is the adapter itself- it is one more thing to manage and often you have to buy it separately. now, there are headsets indeed that already have usb-c plug, but oems do not supply those and so, again, those have to be bought separately.

personally, phones that do not have the headphone jack are ok for me. i do use a few bluetooth headsets when listening to music on the go with my phones, and at least one of them is high end (pricey). i can't be bothered by wires that can tangle or even break. all these because whenever i feel the need to be serious with music quality, i spend the time for it using my audiophile hifi system at home. but then again, that's just me- you can't blame people here for demanding for the jack as these devices do cost an arm and a leg. it really is not asking too much, rather just wanting to get their money's worth.

I dont support the removal of the jack. But i think it is to late to complain guys, it is very clear that OEM's dont listen to the consumers and we are not the majority anymore. It is our fault.
