Here's why the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ don't have a headphone jack

07 August 2019
The company anticipated the backlash, and thus had a few reasons at the ready.

Here's what I think Samsung should've done:
- Increased the battery size (can easily match the competitors, add another 200-500mAh)
- Put in the Headphone Jack
- In the box, have USB-C Headphone
- Add in the IrDa blaster
- Reduce the price by 20%

...but they did the opposite.
- The alternatives is they increase thickness by 1mm, add in two vibrators, the headphone jack, and increase the battery as well
- OR they keep everything the same, but add in a second USB-C port

As it stands, the best phone Samsung makes is the S10+ which is now going to be $600 which is half-price of the Note10. By removing the microSD slot and Headphone Jack here, Samsung established what they're going to do for 2020 S11-variants. And it means there's no reason to choose a Samsung over a Huawei device now, or even Google Pixels/OnePlus.

The power-users should look forward for the LG G8/G9 and LG V60/V70, or the Razer Phone/RoG Phone. And if enough people manage to vote with their wallets, then maybe these pro-consumer companies can be profitable and incentivised to go forward, whilst the anti-consumer companies lose revenue and have to fire managers and restructure their business model.

Well, the only companies who still kept the headphone jack and undisputed winner on holding the title of "savior of headphone jack" after the demise of the headphone jack since LeEco, Moto Z, and iPhone 7 series are LG and Asus. Samsung just dropped itself.

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2019Whether you accept it or not, it is the fact. The same thin... moreThat is not true. We don't need to accept it while we have other alternatives with those features, so the only one losing money removing it is Samsung. At least, from those who still want those features in their phones and will buy flagships from other brands with them while they are available.

The non removable batteries was another history as many brand used their flagships with IP rating to justify it and then the rest profited the situation for extend it to all models, being customers the losers, losing that feature for the rejoice and benefit of the brands with its abusive prices in their technical services, planed obsolescence, etc.

A shitty practice today in a lot of products, sadly. So what we must to is avoid them as much as we can. And at least talk with our closed wallet. Only buying those have sense and learn to wait till the initial overprice drops enough. But yes, some people will never do that and in consecuence less money in the bank along the years. Each one in with their decisions.

Too many interested people here promoting the comsumption without common sense and the waste of money needlessly. Someone sent their commercials in a desperate try it seems. But reading the comments it'll fail, no money this time.

I dont care about the 3.5mm jack any more, it comes with usb c headphones and wireless headphones like my powerbeats or galaxy buds are just as good as out of the box headphones, what I dont like is that the standard note 10 is actually a downgrade in many respects from the note 9, first no micro sd slot....ok i can handle that given its 256 storage but why the need? 1080p screen vs 1440p? Slightly smaller screen, smaller battery, 3500 vs 4000, and its slightly more expensive then the note 9 on its release, only the plus bersion is a genuine upgrade but even then all theu have done is added the micro sd slot, a tof sensor and tweaked the s pen and bigger screen, the design is pretty enough but to then charge a £100+ premium, and there is no free goodies with either model either and all in all this is a bit off putting, I will skip the note now and see what the competition offers

Sa,msung is hypocrite. Mak3s fun 8f notch but releases n8tch phones. Now this. The world would be better without samsung, apple and google. At least chinese companies etarted copying apple before have moved on and innovated and They don't mock competition's features only to do the same like samsung and google did regarding notch and jack. Apple sucks too. Low quality hardware/software crap priced like even more valuable than people's lives.

No excuse. Asus Zenphone 6 with a smaller footprint managed 5000 mAh battery with a fully rotating camera. The real reason is they want people to buy their buds.

Whether you accept it or not, it is the fact. The same thing with the implementation of non-removable battery, many resist but look what happened now.
So better accept it and use Bluetooth headset or 3.5mm to USB type C adaptor or a headphone with USB type C jack. You have to move on... LOL!

They'll say it improves design and adds extra battery etc and that wireless charging is fast and so on. Anything to justify high price increases.

AnonD-731363, 08 Aug 2019Here we go to the party no jack no problem. Deal??? Expec... moreI didn't get over the removable battery. I just dealt with the issue differently. Instead of getting the latest flagship phone and pay sammy $1000, I get a midrange for 1/3 the price from a cheaper manufacturer. That way when the battery inevitably fails a year later I can chuck it and get a new midrange.

Still much cheaper than buying a Samsung flagship and having to throw it out after a year or so . And for normal people, a cheap midrange is more than they need to open fb and send an email

Two USB-C ports could be a wounderful feature.

But there are just a few customers who consciously need this, so I don't see why Samsung would do it.

yeah because does money come from people who like to waste money on bad devices (i would have said a more worst word then bad ) like you u are the true fish for samsung
look at zenfone 6 rotate camera and 5000 mha battery snapdragon 855 and headphone jack
how did asus do that considering samsung is far better
rog II 6000 and 3.5mm jack and triple type c and dual stereo speaker
i'm not saying samsung put trash the s10 series are good but the note series are a joke at all who liked it note 10+ 5g is 6.8 how does the jack not fit ?

[deleted post]That is not necessary. Simply not buy those products that lack of what you want. As their mid-rangers are overpriced with crap cameras and now their flagships are losing demanded features by consumers. Sure that they'll bring back at least some of them if they watch that their sales drop for several financial exercises or periods in a row.

Of course if people blindly continue buying whatever they vomit, then like in Apple they'll simply offer the less possible to maximize the profits as they are already at the top with a good amount of loyal blind sheeps. That time of innovations and offer more complete phones than others, already have passed, at least until they are forced to do it again due to a drop in sales. The under-display camera will only be the new version of an already one like the under-display fingerprint sensor. So for now they only remove useful ones, like the audio jack or the Face ID that allow scanning yourself while you watch and control it too, something rear ToF cameras can't without double display. Buy adding nothing new with lame excuses.

Well, there is something new, the licenses of Microsoft products that now you pay and are included in the price of the Note 10 as nothing is for free, but no one asked for them. What a precedent... which ones will be included in the next S11? Bye bye S11 audio jack and microSD, that money will go for pay something else and say that it is due to have 100 mAh more and something else!

Galaxy note always was the most feature rich phone, until now. I've expected some screen innovation (underscreen camera?) get your hole in the middle of the screen (in S it looks better in the corner), SD card for movies in airplane? forget about it. Want to charge phone and listen to podcast in transatlantic flight? how about no! I've never actually used heart rate but that was a feature.

Best part of this announce is that note 9 will get cheaper.

Yeah or they could make a dongle that takes USB C then adds a USB-C on the back, a headphone jack and maybe HDMI like the MacBook Pro one that everyone uses nowadays but only one USB C and one HDMI along with Headphone jack. But instead of making a cable they could use a hard metal or steel to cover it and make different colors to match with the Note10. As I mentioned they should make a hard one not a cable one because it's easy to lose cables but this one would be easier to find. Then they would definitely lead the smartphone industry.
I was talking about kind of something like this: https://boygeniusreport.files.wordpress.com/2017/01/hyperdrive.jpg?quality=98&strip=all&w=782
But only One USB C, One USB Type A(if they can fit one), One HDMI and most importantly One headphone jack.

These explanations are getting worse and worse.
Who gives a flying toss about haptic feedback or 100mah battery (laughable!!). F@ck you Samsung, I will be buying LG from now on.
