              Smaller area means less pixel and therefore cheaper to producer. But for us, the users, it means less text can be displayed on the screen.

              Example for a 6.1" screen: ratio -> area
              - 21:9 -> 13.4
              - 16:9 -> 15.9
              - 1:1 (square) -> 18.4

                I'm sure plenty of people have already mentioned this but 6.1" isn't compact at all lol. And 4K on a smartphone is overkill and a serious battery drainer.

                  no DNG/RAW capture = no buy

                    _Assuming_ the camera is moved to make space for the battery. The battery size would be the same as the Xperia 1. However if they made the phone slightly thicker to remove the camera bump. Space for headphone jack and a small increase in battery size would be possible and beneficial. But this is Sony, so probably never.

                      Anonymous , 04 Sep 2019How 6.1'' phone is a small phone. Am I not getting the point? The point is 6.1" is indeed small. Why? Well because of the 21:9 screen ratio. On 16:9 a 6.1" is big, however on the 21:9 those extra inches are because its tall. With phones moving away from the wide 16:9 ratio the only we can only measure how small it is from the width of the phone.

                      Using omnicalculator screen size calculator
                      a 6.1" 21:9 would have a minimum width of 61mm (not including the width of the bezels/ body). This 61mm width would be equivalent to a tall 21:9 version of the 65mm width of the 5" 16:9 XZ2 compact.

                      So it is small as the old compacts. Just a lot taller. I'm glad they still make compacts.

                        Palm phone is small and for good price this is big fat expensive like always. No wonder Sony is gone.

                          i still can't digest the 21:9 ratio. it's super awkward.
                          but yes it's true, it fits the palm of your hand, just like a TV remote.
