Hisense T91 prototype shows UFS cards run circles around microSD cards

10 September 2019
UFS is the same tech that's found in most Android flagships and these cards would have allowed expandable storage to be as fast as the built-in.

Brands that use microSD It would or could change at the right time. Those like Apple, Google, Never Settle, etc, Will invent 666 millions of excuses to not use them and add them in their phones... $$$$ even if they are as faster as the internal storage.

Yes but what is the point of publishing the article, I might as well put up a story saying MY new water and sand battery system beats anything else by magnitudes, is dirt cheap, safe, easy to make, non polluting, but you can't buy one and I have no intention of letting it out to market, by anyone..
Come tell us something useful when somebody is making/selling the chips themselves and when there are devices they will fit and work in.. Me, I've always wanted a sensible explanation from Google/Android of why they suddenly took against sd cards years ago, so we got/get phones with no memory card slot at all and some of the same devices have no working USB host ability even !!! The most google/alphabet have ever said realy, was "issues with device security" !! While they for years kept leaving huge back doors and holes in what they did push out !!!!

Anonymous, 10 Sep 2019It's because companies would rather charge you 100$ for eve... moreWhat are you talking about? for 100$ you can get at least 64-128 GB more, depending on brand.
Seeing how expensive a 1 TB microSD card is, would you buy a 1 TB UFS card if it cost 1000$?
Probably not, so stop the bullshit.

PremiumCharged, 10 Sep 2019Well.... Some big company don't want you to add fast ufs st... moreThe iPhone didn't want slow performance due slow SD card which the majority go for.
Not saying it's about money, they could have had a better pricing for storage upgrades.
But UFS cards are a new thing , if anyone is greedy about it it won't be apple. It would be Samsung , they helped develop it and doesn't even have a phone that supports it. Especially a flagship

Well.... Some big company don't want you to add fast ufs storage freely, they make sure of it. They want to charge you premium price for bigger built in storage, best example is Apple iPhones, you have to pay hefty price for a bigger internal fast storage, Samsung realized it hence scrape the idea.

UFS cards never caught on because Samsung never made any, as far as I am aware. I have looked for such cards for a couple years now without luck. I am not aware of anyone else making any either. It's like saying time travel never caught on.

Huawei on other hand completely ditching their Nano MC cards. That was a one-time disposable project - throw 4 times more expensive cards, make profit and forget.

Thats great n all but, what about the price? How will it compare to a regular Samsung SDcard's price point?

OEMs don't want to embrace it because it's more profitable to charge premium for extra internal storage while ditching microSD spot.

Well this is impressive when the phone technology is like frozen and nothing new were invented past years.

You can't buy a phone with it and I've never even seen the card.

It's because companies would rather charge you 100$ for every 32gb instead of letting people use these cards.
