mars3486, 20 Sep 2019It is possible for screen to body ratio to be over 100%. ... moreNo, it's not. It's cheating.
Phone body has specific dimensions, width and height. So if a phone is bezelless on the sides, then the screen width should be the body width in the calculation of the screen to body ratio correctly.

As long as you make a Mi Mix 4 with a perfectly flat screen then I'm happy :-)
If not, then congrats on ruining the Mi Mix line for now :-(

I don't know how it's gonna look like. But at least, I like it to be something like this: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/NLbC4BYkG0o/maxresdefault.jpg

There was concept of iPhone 6 with Wraparound Display.
I think where it goes next (or maybe thats what Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha will look now...just from the front).

I never googled it but naturally ratio is about front (the closest to check GSMA specs). It's just a point of view, if speaking of front 100% can't be exceeded, if sides or even rear it can. Marketing uses body but usual is front. Nothing complicated everybody
                    understand it here.
What's more interesting is that picture, could they bring some kind of foldable already? Well if not a whole new model series where else than Mix, already have some prototype at least and it's got new name on top of it... I don't say they will though, just it's not impossible. Either way, I'm kinda curious about new Mix.

mars3486, 20 Sep 2019It is possible for screen to body ratio to be over 100%. ... morewell if you are then going to include the sides, then the side top and bottom bezel will be included in the equation too, so.. Still not over 100% i think.

Le Mathematician, 20 Sep 2019Have you ever head of something exceeding design capacity? ... moreYour examples are crap. Can you have more than 100% of your body? No.
Same thing goes here. Even if there's no bezel at all, meaning the whole front is covered in screen, this is 100% screen to body ratio. Going over the edges doesn't give you more screen to body ratio, since it's calculated for the front of the device. And there's no more screen on the front than full front. 100%.

But marketing is marketing. They're gonna use every catchy words they can.

Devil , 20 Sep 2019Screen to body ratio over 100%? Logically it's impossible. ... moreWhat considered body in the ratios is the front panel, but screen goes beyond that, so there's more of screen than there's of front panel.

It is possible for screen to body ratio to be over 100%.
Here is how. Consider 100% front coverage and then waterfall display with additional real estate at sides. Isn't that over 100%?

The problem is all these amoeba type people think it's a great idea to have all-screen phones but actually its not a great idea but the phone manufactures need to come up with something new to keep selling their wares.

A 2019 mid-range phone with thin-ish bezels is perfectly adequate for likely around 98% of the worlds population. We don't need a new batch of phones every 6 months and we don't need all-screen phones.... but people are gullible enough to keep buying them instead of waiting for the 80 - 90% of phone life span.
