The reason why they can't gain more popularity is for the same reason. If Samsung started devoting more time into improving Tizen for smartphones now, there'd be outcries because people are so used to Android.

Kangal, 04 Nov 2019I would've loved to see a legitimate ecosystem, but I knew ... morePeople always cheer about HarmonyOS all day and night and forgot that Tizen and SailfishOS exists, they all never took off despite doing way better on its features than what Huawei has claimed.
HarmonyOS is just gonna end up as a Internet of Things-focused fallback OS that will ultimately gimp their specialized smartphone software

[deleted post]In raw numbers. Do you use Cainiao to track your packages?
Raw amount of users will mean more market share for that group, but not international, widespread use. It's very much China and China only

Djnady99, 05 Nov 2019So much hate for china :'D
there is no concrete evidence/... moreI don't hate China nor Huawei.
There are many people who love Huawei and China, and use their personal beliefs to throw accusations on others. If you read my comment thoroughly you would've understood my neutral standpoint. Each nation should temper their spy activities against other nations and its own citizens.
When you break it down, it all comes down to trust.
Can you trust the CCP? Can you trust the laws? Can you trust Huawei?
If you do some research, you will find their values are not parallel to those of the Western Nations. China has no protection laws to prevent the government from seizing property without a proper due process. It's a gross omission. If they wanted to, the Chinese government can fire all of Huawei's workers tomorrow, seize their finances, replace the staff with other people, entirely install backdoors and spy on other nations.
You can trust USA and European companies and equipment, to a much higher degree.
They're built on foundations where the governments can be held accountable for their action. If you don't believe me, have a look at the myriad times when people actually sued their government and won. On top of this, it is fairly non-trivial to audit these separate companies and their products, and vet them for any concerns. This isn't true for government bodies like military or immigration companies.
Again, this is NOT a discussion between USA vs China. This is about TRUST.
The best thing for American Citizens would be getting Huawei 5G networks in the market, but only after, there are large sweeping reforms to Chinese law. That means the Chinese Government loses its power, where they go from practically a monopoly (or centralised power), into a system where individuals and corporations are allowed freedom.
If you disagree with me, it means you do not wish freedom for China. And that's just wrong.

Anonymous, 04 Nov 2019why do people think google apps are a must? from all the ap... moreYou do not represent the world. There are lots of other users who are enjoying full google service suite. And I rather trust apps installed from the official Google Play than some shady website like LZPlay which I still have no idea from where LZPlay managed to get the Huawei signed private keys from.....

Kangal, 04 Nov 2019Best case scenario?
China undergoes a major reform of laws... moreSo much hate for china :'D
there is no concrete evidence/proof till date from us with regards to obligations which they raised and banned Huawei on the name of national security xD #alreadysofunny...
On the other hand US created this issue on the basis of 5G Technology which comes under networking department so why the hell they banned mobile sector ? :V
Personally, i am niether china's fan nor Huawei.
but i am more interested to see how US play their games to drag a company or country who are able to rise their standard and this will lead as an competition for them so better to ban them before they can take over :'D
On the other hand, my friend do you thing US dont spy on you ? :'D
they have all of your personal data with the help of google, facebook, etc.
Anyways, my only concerns is stop blaming huawei with regards to the US obligations because they dont have any proof and even if huawei is spying then so US too.
and personally, i never had huawei phone till date i am using poco f1 as my daily driver.
i am just impressed on how huawei are able to come up with some greate phones and features of the same and whatever US Claims they has no evidence whatsoever and even if they can proove this then it doesnt matters because US are doing the same thing on the other hand... so it dont make any differences between china or US.
This obligation is just to drag down 1 company or country who are doing much better then US... nothing else! xD

wantone, 04 Nov 2019not true, a lot of people are falling out of love with the ... moreHonestly, if huawei can offer the smoothness and also the 5 years of software update , i would be delighted to change from Apple . Yes its overrated price and also quite hideous design with the notch. But seeing in the user friendly and also good long term peformance, it satisfy user's need for simple device but powerful enough. Hence, i could see huawei can make its way to completely better device in the future

Is for "security reasons" to have all the marine apps verified up to date and be able to see your bank account and other financiar/businees stuff. Its more convenient to have Google Apps. IOS use them and future Huawei OS should use them too.
