Should be great if the chipset was swapped with SD730/730G at least and priced 20% lower. The notch could shrink a bit too

Kingslayer, 17 Nov 2019I know people will always whine and complain about everythi... moreexactly. I think same too. motorola made the right choice. I dont want a tablet in my pocket, I want a big screen phone but very pocketable. I think I would give the razr a shot if It had top specs. 1500$ for a midranger is too much doesnt matter how much fancy it is.
but good thing is smartphone makers are going towards a smarter design after 4/5 years of stupid notch and display cutout.

If you've seen the "Samsung: The Future" commercial that was released prior to the Fold then you know Samsung's ultimate design for the Galaxy Fold and I think it will be the design more people favor once the phone is refined. Refined by making it slimmer, removing the gap in the middle and making the front screen larger.
Motorola took a pocket-able phone at 6.2 inches and made it more pocket-able. To me it's a cool gimmick, but it does not solve the issue of being able to view larger content on a tablet and being able to pocket it.

This type of foldable phone doesn't make sense. It makes smaller what already fits in the pocket as it is.

I know people will always whine and complain about everything. If it's not different enough, they will it's the same. If it's too different, they'll complain they can't adapt to the changes.
Motorola took something old and made things feel new again. They made the logical step for foldables by taking the most iconic and popular flip phone of all-time and brought it kicking and screaming into the next decade. Marry mid-2000s and bring it into the 2020s.
The moment iPhone arrived, it pretty much killed off all the form factors that weren't a slab. Now we will see a flip phone renaissance. Samsung's 2nd foldable will be a flip phone. Flip phone never stood a chance because you couldn't really put a giant display for it. Foldable solved it.
The idea of foldables was to create a phone that can turn into a tablet once unfolded. Motorola went the opposite and I prefer it this way. I don't need a tablet in my mind. And nobody buys Android tablets anyway. I want to return to portability again.
My next smartphones won't be a slab. How boring...

Next, watch as the manufacturers compete on who the first to release rollable phones. By that time, foldable will be cheap already.

There is no right or wrong when it comes to folding phones. But I love the return of the flip phones.

I wish the screen could be larger, so it would make sense for being a foldable phone, also more beefier specs and battery.

Not for me. It's an expensive low spec device with added fragility that turns into a form factor that i can already easily fit in my pocket. There is nothing to it except the fact that it can fold.

I think this is a good attempt but more than spec, the price is bit overkill for an untested tech with lots of ambiguities about its reliability....nevertheless, I like this implementation vs Samsung Fold but Mate X LOOKs great. But we all will come to know in a few months which one works well....

Folding phone done right is... if you don't have to open it to use at least at half of its capabilities and its not inferior in performance.
Look at the camera, look at the battery. Done right is MateX obviously.
Not that razr is entirely bad, its just more of design...

LG Superfan, 17 Nov 2019They need to make some improvements like get rid of that th... moreGet rid of the thick chin? You have no freaking idea. The Razr, no matter what iterations, needed the chin. Why are you so against that? The chin is part of the Razr's design language. It won't look like a Razr if the chin is gone and the body will be thicker because where o' where will they put the parts in now that the chin is gone. Bezelless addicts like you are wishing to ruin this. Besides, Motorola specifically designed the chin to make the display move down a bit when folded which is why the crease is somewhat non-existent.

There's no right or wrong as far as form factor. It does have the most ingenious hinge design that accommodate the folding physics near perfectly. No crease, no tension, no gaps, very robust. Good on Moto for that.

No creases. No gap. Display seems far more durable than the Fold and Mate X is. Makes things more compact to carry around when closed. It's a resounding yes!
Motorola revenge's on the iPhone. The return of an icon that will spawn a flip phone renaissance.
