Samsung Galaxy S11 to have a 120 Hz display

A hidden setting was found in the latest Beta build of One UI that suggests a future device with support for higher refresh rates.

    Finally, major companies like Samsung are innovating. I can't wait for all companies after Sharp, Razer, Asus and Samsung to use 120hz and make them feel what is like to be a gamer. I'll never go back to slow as molasses 60hz and above 75hz is when it starts getting buttery slick and smooth.

    I can't wait for the AI Algorithms that can change from 60hz to gradually all the way to 120hz depending on every situation the user has done.

      Interesting developments. Samsung should work on colour accuracy calibration of the screen too, just a little bit more, especially for people who may use their phone for shooting photos and video.

      The S11 will 0bviously have better cameras than the S10. Hopefully the rumors about a completely new size, resolution and quality of sensors arebyrue as well. Samsung needs to reduce the noise reduction in its computational photography algorithms. The photos could look a little sharper and preserve details, just a tad better.

        RAZR is NOT!!! The first OEM!!! That title belongs to Sharp that display in RAZR was for sharp

        And all the people talking about battery life only say this because the don't understand how poor the battery efficiency is on Samsung oleds

        You need IGZO diodes these amoled displays from Samsung are still using A-si diodes

        Because of this sharp's LCD defeat them in battery life super easily and the same for sharp's igzo 240hz oled displays

          What's next, a bigger gpu, keyboard, mouse, bigger screen, they r becoming like laptops..
          Hmm, I wonder how come no one tried to put one big ass camera and thicker phone to match at least mid -range DSLR ..than would be rad, but it woulnd't be called a phone. OOh ,ok!!!

              If the phone has a 120Hz capable screen, then it is capable of it for those power-users. But for Regular Joe's like yourself, you can tone it down to 90Hz or even 60Hz to save battery life (though the impact is quite small).

              And even if you forget, the screen will only display things in 60Hz when there's no movement or if playing a 60Hz content like videos or games. So it isn't a drain on battery life as people have said. The bigger drain is from the efficiency of the display. If you're watching a HFR video or a framerate-unlocked game, it will scale as high as possible, and upto 120Hz. It is Active Sync technology that is coming from Monitors/Gaming PCs who have had it for a decade now.

              And you should really try it, if you haven't already, before judging it.

                    People talk about how useless 120Hz is, as if they've actually tried a device with one before, and that's ridiculously funny to think.
                    You don't buy cars just by looking at them on pictures, of course you'd have to see it in personal to get a better view of the product.

                        Had a Oneplus 7 Pro, all the 90Hz screen did was eat battery. There's no difference I can see otherwise, compared to my Mate 20 Pro. 90Hz is a bit of the Emperor's New Clothes, I think.

                              Who cares for the refresh rate? I bet anyone would opt a phone with 10% more battery life rather than a super-duper fluid transition which is barely noticeable.

                                I don't give a stuff about the refresh rate.

                                As long as the screen is nice, clean, sharp and easy to read, that's all I need and I can get some really nice quality photos out of it, I'm happy as I don't play games.

                                Just calls, the occasional browse of the web, music and photos. Scrolling? Meh..

                                    You should use the actual device then come back, there's a clear difference between how 75Hz display and 120Hz render UI. A 75Hz display is also very impractical since it offers no visual benefit over 60Hz and it will have harder time adopting to contents with lower fps such as Youtube videos and movies.

                                        1. Still a lot smoother when UI does NOT show stutter, which is the case 99% of the time given how powerful SoCs have become these days.
                                        2. There will be more apps that support high refresh rate as the number of phones with 90Hz/120Hz displays increase in the market, and lightweight games can be handled at higher fps with ease by current flagship GPUs.
