29 January 2020
The Galaxy S20's 64MP tele will be used through cropping for pictures and 8K video.

Every flagship from 2019 does upto 1080p@240fps minimum.

That's just for video. Don't even get me started on the photos.

So tell me how is iPhone 11 ahead in videography compared to s20?

The Last Oracle, 29 Jan 2020I agree that you first said the 9-to-1 camera won't do 8k. ... moreWell, it could be true but now we have no way to find out. Your profile lists only the latest comments, not all.

But I agree, what I did was just divide 108MP by 9 to come to 12MP, its a pretty standard idea that could come to anyone (specially with 48MP to 12MP), so you could be correct here.

Anonymous, 30 Jan 2020Xperia does not do 4K60 for same reason Pixel 4, Mi9, OP7 d... moreOr simply because Sony cannot guarantee a super effective EIS at 4K60, or they're intentionally limiting its camera capability to let their dedicated cameras have a significant advantage in video recording. But definitely not about a "choice" as you say.

GregLu, 29 Jan 2020Actually, it will be 8K@24fps ;)That's interesting, source?

Not quite sure what you're getting at, but that's because it was a quad Bayer sensor and AI Ultra Clarity mode could only eliminate the array conversion artifacts instead of pushing the effective image resolution beyond 48MP. A native 32MP sensor that has larger individual pixels, coupled with sharper 80mm prime lens, OIS and super res image stacking would be far more effective than whatever Honor managed to do at that time, assuming that Samsung is actually capable of creating such sophisticated algorithms.

"In perfect light conditions without dark shadows"
Exactly, in "perfect lighting conditions". In poorer light conditions larger pixels would start showing significant advantage in dynamic range and noise level, hence I'm suggesting that 32MP sensor would've been better fit.

Anonymous, 30 Jan 2020Iphone level? LOL - iphone cant even record 4K HDR (10bi... moreSony and Samsung use their own proprietary formats, HLG and HDR10+ respectively, to record HDR videos - so they will look awful on ANY devices that do not support those formats, with flattened out gamma and horrid colour reproduction. Don't forget about reduced stabilisation and maximum frame rates in those HDR recording modes. You keep emphasising superiority of those "true" HDR videos to mock iPhone's camera capability (which you have been doing for a while now), but at the same time you're completely ignoring the drawbacks of using such options hence how impractical they are in real life.

Are you saying one shouldn't do 8k because it has small screen !
Then I guess no one should do 4k either as most Cameras have 4inch screen.
People might have a laptop, a desktop or a 4k/8k tv where they can watch those footage.
I guess you only have a smartphone, nothing else.
