Sony Mobile President talks the Xperia II phones, 5G and the future

Meanwhile, Sony Mobile online stores in Europe have closed, instead the official site redirects you to local retailers.

Anonymous, 28 Apr 2020So, people can watch hours of silly youtube videos on phone... moreOn the go, I am comfortable watching things in QHD or 1080p since on tiny screen there is not a huge difference compared to 4k. 4k is simply a battery hog. And with Sony providing regular small capacity Li-pro batteries (400-500 cycles) means your battery is dead before the day. And the weak fast charging adds insult to the injury.
Phones with proprietary fast charging tech like VOOC Don't even heat up too much during charging and using the phone together while Sony will reduce the charging speed further to prevent overheating. But that is to be expected from inferior fast charging tech.

But for movies or Netflix, I'll rather wait and watch it on big 4k TV complete with home theater experience which is a million times better than 4k on smartphone.

Not everyone is 24/7 on the road akin to a hitchhiker like you. Invest in a 4k TV and upgrade your viewer experience. Even 1080p movies are superior on 4k TV compared to smartphones.

    Sony isn't even on the map of Android marketshare.
    Sony has stopped selling in plenty of countries.
    It's in the same sinking ship as LG & HTC.

    Sony would be lucky to sell 0.1 million units of Xperia 1 II across the Globe
    And don't bother asking me sales numbers for Chinese phones as they are all over the Internet. If not, then go personally ask them to email you numbers.

      i never had Sony, but mark 2 caught my eye after tons of trashy flagships produced since legendary Galaxy S7. I am talking about horrible notches, disgusting tiny bezels without led notification, and fingerprint readers being either in the back (bad) or inaccurate under display (samsung). Agony of owning S8, V30, Note9, 6T, S10, Mi9, 7T....:(
      4 years of waiting for a proper flagship. And here it is:
      - easy to swipe no edge screen
      - easy to grab from the sides bezels
      - easy to hold super narrow shape (71mm)
      - easy to hold weight 180g (vs 200g bricks from 1+/Xiaomi)
      - camera back in the lovely bezel, that means we can fit full directional speakers and notification light there!
      - super ideal 21:9 screen format, just like my curved PC screen
      - gorilla 6
      - waterproofish
      - 1 billion color BT2020 only screen
      - 4K strictly
      - SD card is baaack
      - UFS
      - audiofile jack with subwoofer (DVS)
      - wifi AC and AX
      - BT 5.1
      - ultra fast fingerprint on the side!!!
      - good battery with fast charging
      - the one and only wireless charging
      Can't wait, seriously. This spec blows S20, 1+8, Mi10 out of water.

You are arguing with someone who has zero knowledge at what makes a good phone a good phone or perhaps he only needs fast and responsive UI and nothing else. Anyway 150 for 665 will give him snappy UI on crappy LCD/AMOLED 720p screen, crappy not because of resolution but because it's unable to reproduce color properly and contrast goes wild on the slightest tilt. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

          Does that 150 Euro phone has 128GB onboard storage?

          Does that 150 Euro phone has bluetooth 5 and support aptX HD?

          Does that 150 Euro phone has NFC?

          Does that 150 Euro phone has aluminium frame instead of cheap plastic?

            Do not watch movies on it, but its still better than stay at pixelated world forever. You shouldn't be able to spot difference and there is even between it and QHD, you just need to have eyes without all that doubt.

                      Yeah, maybe for the Sony fans, it's not important the performance/price ratio, but for the average consumer, that is the most important thing when you talking mid-range or low-end devices. For the average consumer is not important some IP rating or some tweaks each and there Sony is making to Android OS.
                      In the end, is all about the money and what do you get for that money, compared to the competition.
                      Apple can get away with it, because they don't have any competition in IOS, but with Sony.. well is a whole other story. With all these aggressive prices from competition, here comes Sony trying to convince everybody to buy their phones. So, why nobody listens? Because everybody else is dumb, or because everybody else is smart about their purchase? I let you be the judge of that.

Build Quality means the metal used to make Body, parts as well how well they withstand duirng the time. Chinese mobiles are far down in this.
