Oh I see, they want to go back to the good old days of the iPhone or the iPhone 5/5s times by this design to grab some emotional iBoys/iGirls, but guess what? With 5G, 120hz screens, all those megapixels it is going to cost North of $1500. Even the S20 ultra sells at that price point and apple would say, why not?

In my opinion they should use a 64 megapixel Bayer sensor AND a 12 megapixel Bayer sensor, just like the S20.

What Apple and other companies like Google really need to add is a color slider (white balance) in auto mode. A wrong white balance often ruins a photo. The revolutionary Google Nexus 5x had a very good auto white balance (sadly Google ruined the white balance of the latest Pixel phones) and in certain situations you could choose a different white balance in auto mode. I am not aware of any new phone that offers white balance settings in auto mode. White balance settings in manual mode / pro mode are useless, if the pro mode image quality is bad.

I'll pass of this generation and even buy an Android phone as a second phone to play with the things and features that iPhones lacks. Maybe the iPhone as a phone to use at work for basic use and the Android as daily personal use to have fun with the extra entertainment, play with a better variety of cameras, etc.
So I'll have both systems and updates and next year watch which of both worth a replacement according with the new innovations or new features manufacturers add next year in their phones.
Seems that this year is not interesting to purchase, less for few Android phones that worth more.

I mean 12MP is garbage, but keeping 12MP for all these years (including the iPhone 12) is a whole new level of being way behind android in cameras. I even heard the zoom won't have a major upgrade until 2020, because they're updating from 2x to 3x. What's next? Upgrading from 12MP to 13MP in 2023?

If iphones are built to last atleast 5 years why are we planning to buy the phones every year just for making us feel that we are ahead of everyone’s hand held tech. Try to stick to 1 phone for 3 years
Invest in apple shares for the 2 years that you wont be buying the new phone this will help you gain more money and inturn if you sih to go for the latest iPhone 3rd year you will actually get it, plus some extra cash
Note: It is just a piece of information from a 31YO, I may be wrong . Sorry if I had poked my nose into your idea

They looks more of the same. Better skip them and not change iPhones this year. Maybe next one or in two...

iPhone 4 shell comes back as the 12, iPhone 11 is like a super-sized 6, which in-turn comes back as the SE...hmm, it's like cycling through the same wardrobe every couple of years?

Last years phone got me to trade in my wife s8 for iphone 11 pro
I still want to see 2 things before i change ships from android to apple:
1) USB-C
2) base storage 128GB not 64GB
