Most phones are PDAF and do not show same issues.
Also, companies increase cameras while keeping f1.6, f1.7, f1.8 ... And you take photos at shorter distances, the amount of frame out of focus will increase.
That is why the cameras 13, 16, 18, 50, 52, 70 or 80mm on the phones use f2.2, f2.4 or f2.6.

Why not keep both ToF and laser AF? And I am sure no one is going to miss the 100X zoom even 50X is just a gimmick IMO 30X digital zoom is more than enough

If we need to use a stylus for any type of creativity, our 12.9 Pro is the device that is better suited for REAL authentic ideas/creations. Not a 6.5 - 6.9 phone display.

It's used in combination with other PDAF tech.
It's useful for night time pics and objects at shorter range.

I would keep 100x zoom everyone with a brain knows after 50 zoom the picture wont be perfect but so what its a zoom its a fun thing

Just fake marketing from Samsung.
Canon created this tech, none of their cameras has 100% of the scene covered by AF points.
Actually, no camera cam do it.

Samsung, please make those bezels uniform. Nobody would mind a slightly thicker top and side bezels to match the bottom bezel. Please, Samsung!

Actually I was pretty sure that the S20 ultra will feature LAF.
Anyway Laser AF is faster than Dual Pixel AF. It just can't cover the entire area like Dual AF.
So, it has to use PDAF along with LAF.
