If you really want me to point out what causes battery degradation, it's heat. Do a lot of gaming on any phone, the impact is noticeable. Charging while gaming? The worst.
What I meant by two or more years is that it needs to be changed, it doesn't necessarily mean it's dead. Smartphone batteries can probably last 10 years but they start to degrade more as time passes on especially the two-year mark. Usage pattern is what really affects your battery. A light user will definitely have better battery life than a heavy user. I don't want to suffer from poor battery life. Also, most people change their phones at the two-year mark so they don't really care about it.
You're telling me they can't spend even an hour or maybe less just to replace their battery when they can wander around or do something else for that one time only? Calling it nuisance is an overstatement. To these rich guys, it only costs them pennies. Poor battery life is a nuisance. Imagine the amount of time you lose waiting for it to charge everytime and seeing it drain so fast unless you like to live at the edge. Replacing the battery means that the user is willing to use it longer. They could replace the battery many more times and device will live on and on until other parts go kapoot.

It's a feature imposed by the manufacturer and they've made enough research, development and testing to ensure it complies with the safety standards or else phones would explode. You can't blame the user because they want to use that feature. Unhealthy charging habits are like overnight charging and higher battery cycles within one charge. Furthermore, I used to have a Redmi Note 4X for 2 years and the battery health is at 70% and no support for fast charging so what causes it???
It depends where you live but you can compare it to an all-you-can-eat buffet which you don't do regularly. More importantly, if you live in developed countries, it won't matter whether it's expensive or not. You want it cheaper, you can do it yourself, no paying for service. There are other components that are more expensive to replace such as motherboard, display, etc.. Even without fast charging, you're bound to feel the irritation of battery degradation especially me who is a heavy user. It definitely won't last as long as day one.
Let's see you run or climb with that powerbank in your pocket while charging. It's a hassle to always bring it and using it sparingly means it's not so reliable. I see people use powerbanks because their phones have mediocre battery life, like the iPhone X or S20 Exynos. Having it connected to my phone is cumbersome. I always make sure my phone has enough juice to get me throughout the day so I don't need to ask anybody for powerbanks and such.
Just because phones have good battery life doesn't mean we should refuse to innovate in charging speeds otherwise we'd be stuck at ancient 2.5W charging. If I stay home all the time or do a lot of gaming on mobile, I'm impatient of lengthy charging duration. I don't like overnight charges, I charge partially.

-battery has a certain lifespan and its more than 2 years, at least within 3-4 years, some can even push it to 5 years or maybe more depending their usage pattern
-have you ever thought that most of people who spend $1000 didn't want replace battery ever? because they expected their $1000 phone wont come up with such nuisance and expect their phone last at least 4 years even they will replace it sooner, its not about they could afford to replace battery or not, some even didn't replace their battery because they didn't have time

The recommended battery charging current (https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/ultra_fast_chargers) is 0.5C or 1C, or for a 4,000mAh battery about 2A or a maximum of 4A. It is not clear to me how to avoid overheating the battery and shortening its life cycle. We'll have to change the batteries more often when we charge our phones this fast.

When I say unhealthy charging habits, insanely fast charging is already one of them. Gosh, I thought you had better comprehensive skills!
That one-time payment is still costly, and not worth doing, especially when you consider that you can simply avoid these unhealthy charging habits to prolong your phone battery's health for years. Again, a thousand dollar phone shouldn't even have to be maintenanced annually, especially when you consider the fact that budget phones also don't. My budget Redmi phone is already 2 years old and its battery is still fantastic because I kept charging it adequately at 10W only, which is still fast enough, as I only charge usually at night, since the phone has good battery life.
Oh puhleaase! You weigh more than 30kgs and you can't even carry a 5kg brick? How pathetic can you be?
And how are you so sure that there's always gonna be a power outlet everywhere you go? They are FAR cheaper than battery replacements, and no need for maintenance, which can be very risky if you ever happen to encounter a bogus electrician.
And you said it already, that phones nowadays have good battery life that's enough to last a whole day, and the only time people would need to charge their phones is at night before sleeping, so why even need super fast chargers when the phone has pretty much more than 5 hours being plugged into the socket? Talk about practicality vs privilege.

Am I missing... more15 mins, 10 mins, 5 mins, 1 min, however long that is, Lithium batteries still shouldn't heat up beyond a threshold limit. They are just like people. They get stressed once they feel uncomfortable from a certain temperature, and it takes a toll on their longevity.

Battery replacement is a one-time payment in the course of usually 2 years or more, it's insignificant in your expense. Also, it's not useless to replace a battery, you get to have more time using the phone and that by itself is an investment. A battery replacement has more value and is less expensive than upgrading to a new phone (unless the battery was mediocre in the first place).
Power banks have weight and...guess what? They have batteries too! No one is going to carry that all the time. People who use power banks are not confident with their battery's endurance. If you want to use a power bank, be my guest but my phone can last a day so I'm not worried. Fast charging comes in handy when you really need to use the phone or hurry onto something.

Consumers should read the ads if they want to know whether a certain phone supports it or not. So far, Sony, Asus, Oneplus and Apple have implemented a feature that limits the battery from reaching 100% and I think Sony and Asus allow slow charging with a fast charger. It would be nice if more companies were to adopt this feature.
