Dometalican, 25 Oct 2020What kills me about Huawei is that they trashed a super-cap... moreTo be honest I totally agree. The Pro+ isn’t that much of an upgrade. The RS is basically a luxury phone, and you know how well those sell.

It doesn't really matter what huawei it is, once the apps on my wishlist are available on the huawei app gallery I will never go back to Samsung. The only reason that huawei is being killed is political because they've upset a best of wasps called Apple and Samsung all of whom the American president seems to be more fond of or else they would also block the likes of xiaomi, honor etc and wouldn't allow the like of TCL or Oppo to start gaining terrain

miaumiaumiau, 25 Oct 2020tell me how this huawei phone is way superior then iphone 1... moreAnd let's not even talk bout Samsung, everything they got 4 them is they're screens and they sell them to others, so the only reason they are "better" is because they became almost a monopoly

TEtech, 25 Oct 2020Worse? I would say much better, while apple is catching up ... moretell me how this huawei phone is way superior then iphone 12 pro max? and please dont tell me about 90hz refresh.
and this is comeing from a guy that bought a p20 for his wife, and who doesnt like apple.
people will just go with known brands since they have better services, better resale value and support.
the only winner is Xiaomi, but they look like amateurs compared to huawei.

Whackcar, 25 Oct 2020I don't need Huawei to be the reason to leave Google. ... moreAgree, Google are a bit fked up, but for most people it's the Internet for them, Google I a monopoly and there's nothing we can rly do about it.
People need to know that there is more than Google and stop hating on huawei phones because of it

I don't need Huawei to be the reason to leave Google. I left Google long ago. Most evil company on the face of earth right now. The only Google product i willingly use these days is YouTube, and only because there's no equivalent alternative for it.
As for Mate 40 Pro, it's good, but in some ways it's a bit of a letdown compared to P40 Pro.

They only managed to secure enough components from TSMC to make around 8 million chips so after that Huawei are dead. Buying one of their phones is not a good investment, especially when they cost over €1,000

Interesting to see that the P40 pro + never launched outside of China... I guess that is true if you are too lazy to use the Huawei UK store where it has been available for a long time and even comes with a free smart watch and wireless charging stand. I wouldn't be surprised if the same doesn't happen with the Mate 40 pro+

I'm a person who use gmail and other Google apps. No GSM, no thanks. This phone cost more than iPhone 12 pro. Without Google, paying this much of money would be useless. Go and look in other brands rather than wasting money in Huawei phones. I'm not a hater of Huawei because early phones i have used and no complaints about those. My point is that without gmail, it's hard for me to use.

What kills me about Huawei is that they trashed a super-capable X portion of their Mate series for a 'Pro+' moniker that's $200 more for ONLY a portrait lens, OIS on the main cam (that should have been in the Pro version in the FIRST place), and 4GB of RAM while being nearly the SAME as the Pro in terms of size, battery, and design. That was my major complaint about the P40 Pro vs the Pro+ and it's stupid that they did it again.
Pro+ should have been a riskier model. 7.0" 2K@120Hz display, 5,500 mAH battery minimum and placing the selfie cam in the form of a pop-up while retaining IP68 (if OnePlus could have what was essentially IP67 on the OnePlus 7/7T Pro without the certification, I feel Huawei could have pulled this off) for full, unobstructed display. This would have been EXPLOSIVE and honestly worth the $1,400.
Tell me why I should go with the Pro+ (possibly even the Pro model) when the Mi 10 Ultra exists. For that much added performance? Eh...

ASUS ROG Phone 3, 25 Oct 2020 I think we can't jump into Huawei without the softwar... moreGoogle work profiles are a deal breaker for me. BTW I'm using my Mate 20 right now as it is the only phone that can hold its charge for my full work day even in its second year of use.
Damn you orange emperor, I want my mate back.

AnonD-923722, 25 Oct 2020I will definitely go for the Huawei Mate 40 Pro+, reasons :... moreI agree with most of your points about the phone, it's a great phone, but the lack of GMS would force me to look elsewhere and not consider this, not because I prefer google services in my phone, I can perhaps do without them, but I use a lot of banking or payment related apps that will probably be absent in the petal search or app gallery thats the main concern

AnonD-923722, 25 Oct 2020I will definitely go for the Huawei Mate 40 Pro+, reasons :... moreThat first point is what disappoints me about these Mate phones the most. What $1,200 phone comes without OIS on the main cam? That's unacceptable. Also, with mid-rangers going for 120Hz refresh rates, this thing being SUPER close to 2K (WTH is up with that resolution....?), and with other flagships going 5,000mAH batteries, that's not worth the price at all.
I know the camera performance on the Pro and Pro+ are fantastic and the charge speeds are really good but I can't help feeling that they were 1 decision away each in terms of display, battery, and design from being the phone that's worth $1,200+.

Well, if the phone had a flat display and a pop up camera + 3D facial recognition, or no front camera and use the main ToF on the back for Face Unlock, along with a 3.5mm Jack (so not that much things off from what I would want), I would, mainly considering that the less Google spying, the better.
So not the Mate 40, but any phone with the features I want would make me ditch Google ASAP.
