haru280, 27 Aug 2012i understand your point but think about it, who has been ma... moreSo what your saying is that Samsung wins by default just because they've been doing it longer? Regardless of design or software? Does that really make sense to you? Which Sony product did Apple copy? The designs brought up during the trial dated all the way back to 2005. I'd love to see your example. TVs and computers? Samsung makes TVs and computers too, yet Apple didn't sue them about that. You know why? Because they're talking about phones and tables, TVs and computers are different forms of devices. The Galaxy series is not made in America. That's just a blatant fallacy on your part. HTC does not supply parts to Apple. Samsung and Sony are not "android" companies. They're electronic companies with many departments. The iPhone is made from parts from many different suppliers, just like Samsung phones. I love your scenario at the end. It basically highlights the lack of any business sense in the fanboys on this site. So what you're suggesting is that Samsung shut down its brand new, multi billion dollar A5 producing plant in Texas and loose many more billions than they did in this lawsuit. I'd like to see the reaction of Samsung's shareholders to that idea.

An American Company Vs a Korean Company in American is Absurd to start with.. No wonder Apple wont it of course Apple had to Win.. Americans are patriotic not only to their Country but also with their own companies. Apple knows they are lagging behind now from Samsung and no matter what they do they cannot stop it. Go take your 1 billion $ you will still be number 3 or 4 in the World by the end of 2013.

                        It's not fair.

Actually, Apple is in tense situation now. Its income is going down day by day. Its next Iphone 5 is going to flop because of nothing special enhancements. Apple cannot regain the market shares by introducing small connector, big connector, and other useless accessories.

On the other hand, Samsung is working hard to fulfill the customer's needs and capturing the most of market shares.

It is the right of everyone to get the idea or observe and then enhance and improve according to their own style and design.

Apple: Your game is Over now. You are No more market leader.

Samsung: Keep it up with innovative products and excellent features.

Anonymous, 27 Aug 2012Justice! Finally! Korean and Chinese companies have been r... morei understand your point but think about it, who has been making phones longer out of the two companies. SAMSUNG. so basically samsung was the original, not apple, and apple copies its designs from older sony products. getting a patent for a rectangle with rounded corners is a stupid thing to do when tvs and computers are the same shape. So as other comments have said below, suing another company out of the competition is a wrong way to go, especially if you're doing the copying also. the patent system is seriously wrong. Samsungs parts and galaxy series are actually made in USA, specifically austin, texas. Apple is made in china and other parts that samsung, htc, and other ANDROID companies supply to them. Even toshiba products are in apple products, don't believe me, then check.... Then on top of that apple overcharges you for something that didn't cost much to make. TAKE THIS FOR A SCENARIO: If all these companies such as samsung stopped supplying to apple, would there be an iPad, iMac, or any other products by apple, NO THERE WOULD NOT.

samsung- spoon feeding apple by giving $1.05B
customers- becoming mad by company's war coz finally it will affect them, less choices, less tech, less innovation
m goin to patent my co*k otherwise tomorrow apple will come sue me n say hey its mine... lol

if thats the case for rounded corners, apple can basically sue people for tvs and every other phone that came out b4 the iPhone with rounded corners.... not to mention the jury were people of the city of apple headquarters, and half of the jury were iPhone owners, thats completely foul for apple to do, let alone, judge koh has stocks in apple

Samsung executives were still reeling in shock Sunday, but provided no clear hint on the company's next move in the showdown with its industry archrival. It's widely expected that Samsung will appeal, but the outlook for success in the appeal now looks rather murky.

"It's absolutely the worst scenario for us," a senior Samsung executive said as he rushed into the company's compound in southern Seoul.

Inside the building, Choi Gee-sung, former Samsung Electronics CEO and now the head of Samsung Group's corporate strategy division, was holding an emergency meeting attended by Shin Jong-kyun, the company's mobile devices chief, and Lee Dong-joo, lead marketing official.

"Apple is likely to seek a tripling of the damage award based on rulings that Samsung's infringement was willful."

So 3 Billion US Dollars Samsung has to pay!!!

It's funny that people have to start a sentence like this here. The Android fanboys on this site, especially the Samsung ones, will attack anyone who says anything bad about their overlords. That's why all the non-android articles here have so many comments. It's usually a bunch of Android fanboys starting flame wars in an article that has nothing about to do about Android.

Back to your comment, the interesting thing about this trial was that it was open. All the other trials were closed so we could not see what evidence was presented. Different countries have different rules on what evidence can be gathered and used. For all we know, Apple just had better evidence this time.
