Zayit, 27 Aug 2012By Miyoung Kim/Reuters Seoul: While Samsung Electronics... moresamsung is the sole supplier. but apple can just contract another manufacturer. apple just have to license a manufacturer to produce chipsets according to apple's apple architecture.

AnonD-25929, 27 Aug 2012Wont be long like that my friend the reliability on each ot... moreApple, in the near future cannot replace samsung from their supplier list. There are very few companies which manufacture quality Products inside the SOC. As you assumed,Apple has to get it's 'Own Unit' to produce a equally quality SOC ( entire SOC) like Samsung, else it shall lose the rep and market. Apple cant take the risk of changing the vendor to some nameless chinese chip maker(no offense meant).
Talking about the future, Samsung themselves are self sufficient and attimes finds difficult to manage the supplies for their mobiles , in addition shall definitely get a class leading client.
Samsung have quite few new Designs in Concept and few are ready for mass consumption. Apple will not be able to get near them and with no Master supplier it will be difficult for them to catch up with the latest tech(leave aside the marketing tricks and few goofed up followers).
To me, i see that Apple will be at a bigger loss in long run, Samsung will definitely see a dip in their profits (Profits only), but have more chances to bounce back very soon.

Anyone on earth can patent anything which he did not invent as long as the original inventor is not careful enough to patent it in time. Its case of being a fox on the part of a person who steals someone elses ideas and quickly runs to patent those ideas for himself.Apple did the same thing. The rectangular shape and rounded corners on cellphones had been in existance before the iphone but no one patented them, then Apple rushed to patent those shapes and punishes anyone who uses that invention which was not theirs in the first place. That's really being foxy and they are benefitting from that.

ARM Holdings plc
The company was founded as Advanced RISC Machines, ARM, a joint venture between Acorn Computers, Apple Computer (now Apple Inc.) and VLSI Technology.
Samsung manufactures ARM CPUs for their phones too
But do they have a license?

I do not like Apple but I think it's quite fair they won this particular trial, Samsung did quite obviously copy them on various designs and features.
Too many companies working on Android or any other platform still manage to make phones with clear differentiators. Samsung should be able to be the same instead of walking this fine line.

What a pathetic education system in US which make people (including the honorable Jury!) think they are buying Apple products while they are actually buying Samsung...Its a shame...No wonder companies like Apple need to lure Asians and Europeans with huge money and green cards to operate...

lucy, 27 Aug 2012Does anybody have got patent for circle or not? I am thinki... morePatents are there so others do not steal someone else inventions , research and development. Its not only got to do with the shapes its with the softwares which they blatantly copied. If they wanted to be objective and innovative then instead of ripping of the iphone they would have come up with there own unique softwares , something different. Also Apple offered samsung to pay royalties to there patents which samsung refused. In short justice has been done and in the long run consumers will benefit instead of iphone clones popping up now samsung and others will put some serious time in research and development, so to create something different and innovative.

Samsung cannot bin Apple off as it is relying on Apple's current popularity to sell Samsung's own hardware for a premium price. It's a bit like buying a VW Golf GTi when you could have a Skoda Octavia VRs for several thousand pounds less. They're basically the same thing, one simply costs more because of its badge.

Companies like Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony, Nokia and Motorola are in telecommunication business and some of them producing mobile phones since 1981.
From 1981 till 2007 all these companies have produced hundreds of mobile phones models and have sold billions of units worldwide before Apple was ever thinking of producing a mobile phone in 2007.
In contrast Apple was not a telecommunication company like the others and had zero history or research & development put in the field of developing mobile phones.
So in 2007 Apple just copied all the technology they could have found in all other mobile phones, smartphones and smart devices, and with all that stolen knowledge and technology they have created the iPhone.
Obviously they couldn't have been innovative in any way with their first mobile phone since all the technology was stolen from others, Apple's iPhone was nothing but a copycat.
If you wanna see what models of mobile phones, smartphones or smart devices did Apple just copied with their iPhone just check the following list of models that were produced way before the year 2007 when the first iPhone was released:
- remember the Compaq iPaq models released since year 2000 upwards
- then the old HP iPaq models released since year 2004 upwards, running on Windows Mobile featuring touchscreen displays with hand write recognition models: HP iPAQ h6320, HP iPAQ h6325, HP iPAQ rw6818, HP iPAQ rw6815, HP iPAQ rw6828
- Motorola models released since year 2004: Motorola A1000, Motorola A1010, Motorola ROKR E6, all smartphones with big touchscreen displays
- many HTC models based on Windows Mobile started from year 2002 upwards, including the first Windows Mobile phone released to marked, here are some model examples since year 2006: HTC P3300, HTC TyTN, HTC P3600 they are all smartphones with big touchscreen displays and hand write recognition
- in 2004 Samsung released a Windows Mobile phone model Samsung i700, again a smartphone with big touchscreen display
- Nokia Comunicator series released since 1998 models: Nokia 9000 Communicator, Nokia 9210i Communicator, Nokia 7710 touchscreen display, Nokia N95 they are all smartphones with big displays
- model from year 2006: LG KE850 Prada again with big touchscreen display

Guys just keep in mind that there are many Apple employes which post pro Apple comments on sites like these trying to deceive people like you, they are among the biggest deceivers.
If you wanna know who is the biggest deceiver just read the Bible and you'll find that Satan is.
Ironically this doesn't seem to be the first time when Satan is using an Apple trying to deceive humanity.

So how do Samsung bounce back from this? Obviously they will, they're the dominant manufacturer and Android is the dominant smartphone OS for good reasons, though I think they should concentrate more on consolidating what they've got: offering ICS and JB on more of their existing models in a timely manner would be a good start.
The Galaxy line-up is generally (in my experience) better equipped, more reliable and vastly better value for money than the iPhone. Galaxies are at least one generation ahead at present (a situation that will continue for as long as Apple release one new phone every 2 years). Samsung should make it easier to customise their phones, that's a real issue for me. So all they really need to do is improve ease of customisation, their update schedule and generally make their phones easier to use.
Really Google are the ones under pressure: they should concentrate on making Android easier to pick up and use, as this is one major reason why a lot of my customers prefer Apple. It's easier for even the thickest or oldest user to get used to. If Android was easier to use, I think Apple would be finished in the UK; we already get nothing but complaints about its cost and reliability.

Aug 27 (Reuters Breakingviews)
Though Samsung doesn't break down sales, court filings suggest the United States only accounts for about 4 percent of its global smartphone revenue. Even if the damages in the court case treble and Samsung can't sell another phone in the United States for a year - the time the company would need to design and release new non-patent infringing models - the financial hit would at most be about $4.2 billion. That's roughly what Samsung earns from smartphones and other mobile devices in just three months.
Samsung and Apple have a love-hate relationship. Though they compete in smartphones and tablets, Samsung is also key supplier of chips and screens to Apple. Arguably, Apple needs Samsung more than vice versa. About 25 percent of every iPhone is Samsung-made, while Apple accounts for only about 5 percent of Samsung's total revenue

It is very well known and easily seen that Samsung tried thievery to beat Apple and Nokia. All most popular devices tightly resemble & almost match the design of Apple and Nokia not to mention the software patents. They are good copy-makers however lack the innovative approach that Apple has always had. I think it is for the greater good that this verdict took place because it would make Samsung people to hire somebody who can actually DESIGN something and not just copy icons, colors, silver linings, shapes, etc...
