Arbiter, 10 Jan 2021Should've given a 90hz option. 90hz should be the mini... moreI agree. 90Hz is probably the best refresh rate for base model flagships ( and even some budget devices ). There is more of a difference between 60 and 90 than 90 and 120. 90Hz is definitely the sweet spot for good display and battery life.

HDR? No one cares about hdr...
But seriously both spatial and time resolution are important, 1440p 90-120hz should be the standard we strive for, now focus on 10bit color and HDR please

Anonymous, 10 Jan 202160 Hz is just too slow and for me, that's not an optio... moreNo need to charge the battery often as HRR hardly consumes 10% more battery and the battery capacities across the board have gotten bigger thereby the endurance rating for HRR smartphones these days is way higher than phones of the past

Kriegsherr, 10 Jan 2021need or dont need both depends on what we do with your phon... moreEven if one dials down to 60hz, the higher touch sampling rate makes all the difference.
So buying a 120hz panel is much better than outdated 60hz as 60hz panel is more likely to have lower touch sampling rate.
I personally would never downgrade back to pedestrian 60hz ever again.

Most people will choose a "Flat" "Qhd+" panel with "120hz refresh rate".
Screen resolution and refresh rate both can be downgraded as per user requirements.
So those wanting to squeeze out the most out of their batteries can dial things down.
Curved displays aren't a problem as long as the palm rejection is good.

They forgot to add front camera options, curved screens have absolutely no usability advantages, it's good to have choice in terms of refresh rate.

Arijeffrko, 10 Jan 2021I don't think so. The maximum SD888 can support is QHD... moreIf they had any intentions to unlock 1080@120 mode, they would have done already in 2016.
Starting with X and X Performance ..
Zero chance ...

Davy Jones, 10 Jan 2021I wish the Xperia one iii to come with a 4k display but wit... more1080@120 would use more power than 4K@60.
All 6,3 million pixels are still gonna work.
Reason 5ii even at 120Hz lasts much more than 1ii.
Even if both were same size, 5ii would still last more.

Wezz, 10 Jan 2021According to rumors but not yet officialized by Sony, the X... moreXZ Premium, 1 and 1 ii already have 120Hz hardware. (XZ2 Premium is 144).
You cant use because no snapdragon has support for more than 60Hz.
None knows if it is lack of interest from Qualcomm or lack of power from cpu.
1iii is surely gonna be locked at 60Hz and probably with same 240Hz motion blur reduction given to 5ii.

There's no need for 4k 120Hz.The battery life of Xperia 1II is already less compared to xperia 5II [83Hrs vs 102Hrs]. I hope they give us option to choose the resolution in the next update.
