[deleted post]i'm just gonna write out the pros and cons of both so everyone is chill

iOS
Pros:
- More secure and fluid
- Great optimisation
- Compatible with 4-5 past iphones
- Apps are optimised for iOS which is not possible on android
- Seamless connections between supported devices
- Widgets are more well baked than some android versions
- Takes advantage of every part of the phone
- Apple Arcade games work amazing on apple devices

Cons:
- Are late with some features (widgets, app library etc)
- not many customization options
- Not open source
- App approval is needed to publish app in app store
- only supports single SIM
- UI does not change as far as looks go
- Some apps cost money on iOS which are free on android

Android
Pros:
- The amount of phone choices to choose from
- Open sourced
- Storage is expandable (occasionally)
- Google friendly
- More customization features
- You can skin them
- Third party launcher support
- Phones are offered at every single price range
- Usually more value

Cons:
- OS support is shorter than iOS side (up to 1-3 years)
- Some third party apps don't work very well
- Using camera in social media apps is bad experience
- Sometimes phones heat up a lot due to no app optimization
- Camera experience in native app is not as good unless u get into upper flagship levels
- Not as secure as iOS

so they have good and bad things, so lets just chill out and appreciate both

Anonymous, 22 Jan 2021Android widgets are at a level that iOS will take 200 years... moreYeah and I hope it never reaches Androids level. Coz they are all full of memory leaks, start chasing own tail and eating battery in 1 hour and never ever aligned with menu icons. Yeah, I literally never want it to reach that level...

I'm also not chasing YOU and harassing you with BS constantly. Which you're doing. I'm tired of you and your endless whining about Apple and iOS by chasing my every single comment and whining over it.

Can't digest that iOS will never be in the People's heart like Android? It's like a step child that no one wants to deal with. IOS will always be second place.

[deleted post]iOS does lack quite a few things. People want to a no compromise phone at all price ranges, which is why 80% choose Android.

Here are the shortcomings of iOS and their ecosystem:

-Outdated design with ugly notch and ugly gas burner design on back.
-Display that gets easily scratched by putting phones on top of each other.
                  -No audio jack.
                  -No SD card slot.
-No dedicated cooling mechanism like vapor chamber system.
                  -No bundled charging brick.
                  -No bundled headphones.
                  -Cheap quality usb cable.
                  -No standard usb type C.
                  -Tiny battery.
                  -No dual sim 5g.
                  -Ancient 60hz display.
-Weak fast charging (wired and wireless).
-No super slow motion video recording.
-No 4k@120fps or 8k video recording.
                  -No periscope camera.
-No additional camera features like wind noise filter, zoom mic, etc.
-Handicapped nature of cameras other than main sensor.
                  -No performance mode.
                  -No gamespace.
                  -No proper file management.
-No seamless connectivity with devices other than Apple devices.
-No theme store which facilitates in changing the look of the device with one click.
                  -Half baked widget system.
                  -Limited customization ability.
-Users have to beg for new features.
-Introducing gimmicks under the name of new features like LIDAR, magsafe, Ceramic Shield or Dolby vision recording.
                  -Overpriced products and accessories.
-No 3rd party repairabilty leading to high servicing costs.
                  -Limited Product Catalogue.
-No privacy, company specializes in giving users the illusion of privacy.
-Dead in innovation department despite being worth trillion dollars.
-Looting the customer base under the disguise of saving the environment.
-Blaming the user for their hardware failures like AntennaGate.
-Deliberately slowing down phones and battery through software updates.
-Handicapped nature of the OS where an user has to jump through multiple different steps to get basic things done.
-Duping users into buying into the 5 year update scam where they give latest features 5-10 Years late.

lol it took them 10 years to deliver basic widgets and app drawer all of which are still half baked and full of bugs.
Even budget devices are embarrassing iOS in terms of software features and ease of use.

[deleted post]Security updates. And just general improvements. Which I didn't even get on Androids because they just didn't get updates anymore past 2 years. Widgets were there, but were all buggy and useless. Here, built in ones already provide exactly what I need and thanks to Smart Stack it occupies just one widget slot. It literally just works and looks consistent. Unlike Android widgets that obviously stick out every time and you can't align them perfectly. But you'll go on again how that's not true even though you know it is.

Anonymous, 22 Jan 2021It's 100% true. All, absolutely all the people I know ... moreThat just shows how much they like what they already have and want to stay in iOS because they clearly have been very happy with, other way they would think other brands too. Nothing wrong with that, i wouldn’t blame anyone not buying $1000 phone and just not switching to Android and buying all the apps and games again and switching the whole ecosystem where you have invested lot and maybe bought accessories and so on.

I’ve said it before but have to be lucky for Apple making so easy to stay in Apple ecosystem and not wanting to switch or even really thinking it. I don’t see Android as a real choice either with all problems Android have and it have had those many years and every year it only get worse when Android getting bigger and bigger without control. I just like too much how controller and polished iOS experience is and how great their ecosystem is and how well everything works together. It’s just something Android will never have because they don’t control hardware and software so it can never do things what iOS can.

” It's 100% true. All, absolutely all the people I know that have iphones do not care about what everybody else is doing or releasing to market.”

Droidboys should take advice, they care way too much what Apple and their users do :D by the way everyone who i know who have Android phone just buy the most safe and known brands. Before it was Samsung and later Huawei and now back to Samsung. They couldn’t care less about specs, they just buy the known brand and check the right price limit for them and buy phone from that price point. Why you think Samsung is best selling smartphone company? Do they really have best phones or just biggest brand name in Android market ;)

Anonymous, 22 Jan 2021You didn't understand what I mean. Most Apple users (8... moreIt’s really funny that you take one meaningless feature and put everything around it like it’s most important thing. Having 120hz screen doesn’t make almost any difference. I’ve been using iPad Pro with 120hz screen since 2017 and i’m also using 60hz 11 pro and they both feel great and smooth. No noticable difference in smoothness.

You are also clearly living in tech bubble if you think big crowd cares. Big crowd mostly want safe choices from known brands. They don’t really care if it’s best for them or not as long as it makes them happy. No matter what you buy it’s really hard to figure out what is best choice, because there’s so many different choices, so that’s why people choose the brands they know they would be happy with it. Average user can’t really go wrong with iPhone so the specs just doesn’t matter. I think really big reason for people going for iPhone is their great camera which is super easy to use and people always get great results taking photos.

” they will notice that other mobile brands can offer better options for better value.” another stupid thing to say when there’s no other iOS phone brands in the market. Something is not better or worse, it’s mostly all about what OS and ecosystem you want to be nowdays. You can’t see from checking specs lists which phone offers better value :)

By the way i’m thinking to buy new soundbar and i’m so overwhelmed with all the choices i have, i have no clue which one to pick because i can’t really go and test them, well few of them can, but yes buying expensive things are really difficult and if i buy one i have no idea if it’s the best value or not, not even if i hear it because i can’t know how it sounds in my room, but i’m happy as long as it gives me the audio which impress me. Very same with phones!

All, absolutely all the people I know that have iphones do not care about what everybody else is doing or releasing to market. Each time when they want to change their iphones they are just looking at what iphone got released that year and they buy it. Doesn't matter what that iphone looks like, what battery capacity it has, how much it costs, what features it has (they choose only the colour and model). That's the kind of blind, id*otic and arr*gant mentality. Don't care about anything else, as long as it's not Apple. Not to mention that some of them don't even know at which version of IOS their iphone is. So yeah..

Anonymous, 22 Jan 2021And what do you get with newer iOS updates? Number changes ... more” Yeah, iOS introduced widgets (which were on Android for 5-6 years), but it's more a "toy" feature for iOS users”

And it only took one day to best the Android widgets :D iOS widgets are already more popular and more used than Android widgets ever. It just those things when google add something they don’t really know how to market it or they just ruining it later or the devs like what happened with widgets.

” iOS 14 widgets make Android's look like an absolute embarrassment
Google needs to set a proper example for widgets or it needs to hire someone who can.”

                                      https://www.androidcentral.com/ios-14-widgets-make-android-widgets-look-absolute-embarrassment

” Android has had home screen widgets for a decade, and they've been surpassed by iOS widgets in a single day.”

this is lot to do with Android fragmentation, companies have their own skins and Ui and yet the widgets only have one design language, which means they just doesn’t fit in to Android Ui, depending what Ui you use.

” How iOS 14 stole features from Android—and made them so much better
We've seen it before, but it didn't look this nice.”

                                      https://www.pcworld.com/article/3564148/how-ios-14-stole-features-from-androidand-made-them-so-much-better.html

                                      ” Winning the widget war

Apple has also done a better job with iOS widgets. Android has had widgets on the home screen for as long as the iPhone has had a Lightning port, but very few of them are worth using, outside of the Google search bar and basic weather conditions. Third-party widgets are, to put it mildly, mostly garbage, and Google hasn’t done anything to advance the platform aside from a few Pixel-first widgets that are installed by default.

But widgets in iOS 14 really do look good. They have a unified design that will extend to third-party apps. The sizes perfectly align with each other and the icon grid. They look like a natural part of the home screen. Most importantly, they accomplish their main task: to provide at-a-glance information that cuts down on the need to launch apps.

It’s the same old story: Android gets there first, but Apple gets it right. I can’t remember the last time I added a widget to my Android home screen. Unless it comes with the phone, like One UI’s weather widget or the Pixel’s search bar, they don’t add enough to the experience to bother. When I download iOS 14, however, one of the first things I’ll do is check out the app gallery and install a few of them.”

This right here is just stuff Android boys will never understand and then they wonder why no-one is talking about Android widgets and why Apple got it right right away and why people actually want to use these widgets and find them.

Most Apple users (80% approximately), don't know about their mobile specs, they just know that it's Apple's product, so it's high quality and that's it! If they go into details, they will notice that other mobile brands can offer better options for better value. For example, most android phones (priced over 350$) have 120hz refresh screen, which makes phone experience feel smoother and is really cool feature. But iPhones don't have it! If people do more research about what they buy, they will know what would suit them better.
I don't try to manage other people's money. I don't say that: "Hey don't buy iPhone". It's everyone's personal decision, but I don't think being "fanatic" and narrow-minded is good.

P.S. I am Android user, but I am not loyal to one particular brand, I've owned and had on hands mobile brands like Samsung, Xiaomi and OnePlus, each having their own advantages and drawbacks. I've also tested iPhones along with them and didn't see anything special that would think to purchase one
