Exynos 2100 is a big step up from 990, still behind Snapdragon 888

no matter how high is exynos's benchmark, the real life perfomance will be the worst.

Can anyone confirm if big differences are mainly in gaming mode? I rarely game, mostly I use camera and social media.

Strange how the X1 in Snapdragon 888 has a higher score than the X1 in Exynos 2100 despite lower clocked. 3W is still manageable when the Apple A14 Firestorm reaches up to 5W. What actually consumes so much power is the GPU which is why Xiaomi Mi 11 takes the crown as the hottest phone ever. No point having high peak performance when it gets throttled significantly but I also wouldn't want my hands toasted.
It's great to see ARM is making architectural upgrades but it's overkill for smartphones. I hope it could be implemented on laptops or maybe desktops?? Seeing how they can dissipate heat better and allow higher wattage. Look at Apple Silicon, Apple is very optimistic of its performance.

IpsDisplay, 02 Feb 2021Golden reviewer is a pretty legit channel love his stuff ... moreIdk if it's so much the X1 core as it is the fake 5nm architecture. (I say fake because manufacturers haven't been telling the truth about their nodes since 350nm)

of course it's behind Snapdragon. Samsung always want to scam their customers with their Exynos crap.

Seems like the X1 core sucks
The dimensity 1200 did not use the X1 and that seems to be a blessing/advantage this time around
Someone also mentioned that samsungs power save mode actually works like an overclocked mode based on golden reviewer tests

Shanti Dope, 02 Feb 2021Depending on who uses the chipsets, different brands of pho... more"in which Xiaomi really messed up the heat dissipation structure on that particular model"
I don't think they mess up anything. They simple don't care about the heat in pursue for performance. That's how chinese have been working for years: bigger numbers.
If you see the 3dmark performance charts, it's quite obvious that Samsung don't let the chip went as hotter (which is ideal) and prefer to throttle it in a curve.
And there's only one Galaxy exynos and snapdragon comparison out there (that I'm aware of) from that Gary guy in which the exynos has 20 more minutes or so, but it loses peak performance much faster. This is expected given the trade-off, but doesn't prove anything at all.
The problem with both socs it's that they are more power-hungry than last year's 865 and can get much much hotter (probably from the Samsung's process) meaning that passive cooling solutions can't deal with it.
I don't expect a much better result from one plus tbh, at least not to maintain the performance that longer.

This was Samsung faking and cheating the results. Golden reviewer already exposed this. https://youtu.be/LaygCP0rq3Q real performance is really bad, propably worst from flagship phones in the market.
I have a feeling Samsung did this cheating because they knew they will perform lot worse than iPhone 12.

[deleted post]I've met chinese young tourists when I was in Italy, hiking in Lavaredo area. I was impressed as they gave me a ride to Venice, they were extremely polite, they even opened the door of the car for me. Truly impressed. Quality education and leaving a good lasting impression. They didn't seem like victims in need to be "saved".

Zion45, 02 Feb 2021But real usage and 80% of Testings shows Exynos 2100 manage... moreDepending on who uses the chipsets, different brands of phones have different heat management. Perhaps you based your conclusion on a comparison between the Xiaomi Mi 11 and Galaxy S21 Ultra Exynos, in which Xiaomi really messed up the heat dissipation structure on that particular model, so the best comparison here is between the Exynos and Snapdragon versions of the S21 Ultra.
Here, it was said that the Snapdragon still has the upper hand in terms of the X1 core comparison, while the A78 cores comparison goes to the Exynos, but power draw is still higher on the Exynos since every cluster of cores that it has is clocked higher than the Snapdragon, yet there's not that big of an improvement either.
If anything, playing GenShin Impact on the Exynos and Snapdragon at maximum settings proved that the latter is able to maintain an almost stable 60fps, with minor fluctuations between 58 to 59, and lowest at around 51fps, but definitely not lower than 50fps, in which the Exynos throttled down to around 48fps when running the game at virtually the same period of time.
Of course this is just nitpicking at this point, since both will deliver a fantastic experience in real life usage anyway, and there won't be any major difference when just running basic smartphone tasks, as both are built exactly on the same Samsung's 5nm process.
