14 February 2021
We're interested in built-in storage specifically, but would like to hear your thoughts on microSD slots and cloud storage as well.

Look fine, give me 512gb. It's still not enough when you can't even get 2gb files off the phone with a usbc cable because the phone times out! Android file transferring between phones is dinky, it's slow, it's awkward, unreliable, and is not a solution. The cloud can do some lifting, but that's not good enough. I want to keep my data in a card and transfer it the instant I put it into another phone! Isn't that why we have memory cards? That's the problem they solve. It's like the stupid lock button on netflix, that's a problem that was already on most media players back then.

Currently have 302GB with a combo of device and mSD. this is a minimum for me as i keep my music collection on my phone for times when there is no signal. In addition to this i have my tidal playlists downloaded for the same reason. Once you start getting into 4k/8k video and hi rez photos, the more storage the better!

256 GB should be the norm now considering the amount of space games and apps take these days

          256 now

          512 in 3-4 years

          1 TB in 6-8 years

Totally happy with the Note20U 256 Storage and Samsung Pro Plus 32GB Card for other stuff

64-128 is more than enough. I dont know what those guys that come here claiming that they need 256-512 internal storage do, but even in most laptops, no one has that much info crammed into a single disk.

Also, microsd is a need. This is in the same list as the 3.5 mm jack: you dont like it? Well, dont use it but leave it there as an option.

Earth is full of basic users.
People that use FB, instagram, youtube and messenger app.
                No more than that.
Even a 32GB phone comes with 22GB free.
More than 130 apps can easily be installed.

                  256GB

games, high res videos, musics, movies, etc all now almost make my 256gb memory full... even the music already like 70gb++... need more storage and microSD cards slot will make things easier to transfer between phone and PC and also as backup..

Currently 256+512 and 90% full. Need moar!

64gb the minimum for any new cheap low end phones as 10 15 gb is gone and other bloatware
128gb minimum currently enough for midrange
256 512 gb for new flagships from now onwards

8k cameras now which would fill 128gb or even 256 gb in hours even with

but for apps and music and other stuff not as big factors some new games like fortnite use 8gb but not many apps that are that big yet

Anonymous, 14 Feb 2021No one really needs a SD card anymore. If YOU don't need external storage that doesn't mean others don't! Speak only for yourself.

I need it to move my files to my PC and laptop and sometimes vice versa. Thankfully most mid-rangers these days (including Huawei flagships) have them.

Remember when some phones came with memory cards bundled? That was a good time. The industry has grown and changed but unfortunately some of these changes like no headphone jacks and no microSD slots really take agency and freedom away from the consumer and lock you in to spending more cash than you would for a new pair of headphones or SD card.

People are mostly okay with it considering spending patterns and since these changes happen gradually enough for people not to mind much but it's a sad trend to notice overtime for me.

128 GB is enough for me. In last 3 years didn't fill even 60gb of my internal storage. In today's modern era I don't think SD cards or not a reliable storage option. Cloud is the future and will be available accross different devices and platform. But I love wired earphones and I have a jack in my mobile.

People you should use social media apps which do not eat too much internal memory. For ex for people who still use whatsapp & others like it there is no work around the situation your options are limited either your have a mobile phone which has plenty of internal memory second option is cloud storage & third option deletion the photo you do not want and the last one is backup all your photos on your computer. Your Choice.
