Bradley Rodriguez, 25 Feb 2021Again, no real telephoto camera. I'll just stick with ... moreNo need for telephoto camera. Just crop the pic to get 2x or 3x lossless zoom from 108mp camera.

At night, most phones in this price segment have sh*tty telephoto that uses main sensor for zoom anyway.

Huge upgrade for the vanilla K40 phone.
From Snapdragon 73x series chip to Snapdragon 8xx series is a huge jump.

Does that mean, they'll increase the price?

Anonymous, 25 Feb 2021I like that Snapdragon 870 phones are released at around 30... moreI think it comes with 775.
They did not use 865 to make phone cheaper.

              Lets be clear :
No pop up = no buy.
No 3.5mm Jack = no buy.
8Mp Ultra Wide on high end = no buy.
I am sure a LOT of Mi 9T, Mi 9T Pro, K20, K20 Pro, K30 Pro, Poco F2 Pro fan will agree.

In fact, it isn't hard to make a great phone :
1: Take the Poco F2 Pro, don't remove anything and ONLY change the following :
2: Upgrade the camera sensors :
-----Main : No 108Mp, but rather to a good Samsung Bright/GN1 or Sony IMX-766.
              -----Ultra-Wide : A good IMX-686.
-----Ditch Macro and Portrait/Depth for a Periscope Telephoto with 3x or 5x continuous zoom that have a deep enough focus control (control over both depth of field and ability to do ultra close focus through Lenses and/or Aperture's iris) to do Macro shots, and use interchangeably Ultra-Wide and Wide to serve as a depth camera for the other, no sensor less than 12Mp.
3 : Push the display to 120Hz and 240Hz touch sampling, I personally don't care about high refresh rate display, but it was what many complained about for the Poco F2 Pro and K30 Pro.
              4 : Snapdragon 888 with modern standards (Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, LPDDR5, a GOOD UFS 3.0 or 3.1).
5 : Improve the cooling and make it slightly smaller to gain battery space to try to reach 5000mAh.
6 : Use Ultrasonic FPS, now that the S21 proved that the tech isn't is bad (as it was only the previous implementations that were bad) but rather excellent, people shouldn't complain.
7 : Gorilla Glass Victus ! People would love it, yes "Glass is glass, and glass breaks", but some are still tougher than others.
8 : Keep the notification LED, the IR Blaster, dual band sat-nav, and the 3.5mm Jack, in fact add a good DAC to the Jack.
9 : Add stereo speakers, in fact make it 2.1 by using the display as a speaker as Huawei did, but only make it for the bass, it is large enough for that and won't interfere with ultrasonic FPS.
              10 : Add wireless charging.
11 : Active Dual SIM + INDEPENDENT SD Card Slot, if possible hot swappable.
12 : Make the pop up hosted in its own compartment, totally sealed off from the rest of the phone (and using passthrough flex cables) so it can be IP68 rated and shut haters while also being "easily" user replaceable.
              13 : 3 Years MINIMUM updates guarantee.

Yes, it would be more expensive (tough not as much as one might think) but THIS would be the ultimate smartphone that many, many, many do want.

I like that Snapdragon 870 phones are released at around 300€. It's probably enough for all but those who that take mobile gaming seriously. Maybe it could be an option for the Pixel 6?

Anonymous, 25 Feb 2021Ddr5 starts at 8GB. It means any phone with 6GB has ddr3/d... morelpddr5 made by samsung starts from 8GB.
There are other manufacturers outside and they do make 6GB.

These phones are too big for my taste, but this pricing is AMAZING. I'd definitely buy if there were a 6" version of this at these prices.

What is going on with Xiaomi??
This has nothing to do with the original hit k20 pro was. Gone is the amazing price tag, gone is the gorgeous display, gone is the 3.5 jack (well this is inevitable I guess), gone are the good auxiliary cameras... The middle model seems completely unnecessary, while the cheap one will be...Weird?
Then we move to Redmi Note line which is coming with Amoled, seriously? And the top note is said to have the same HM2 camera as the k40 Pro+.
Then again all these overlapping models come in the exact same humongous size, like all the people suddenly became behemoths..
Can't be more disappointed and for once in many years I'll switch brands if my phone breaks.

Disappointing, was hoping for more. Gone is the pop-up camera (I hate the cut out ones, would rather have a symmetrical notch then). No under screen fingerprint sensor. No headphone jack, no SD card. Just comes over as an inferior rebranded Mi11 at a slightly lower price. The battery also seems rather small considering that screen is going to be power hungry... Throw Xiaomi's bad android skin in the mix and I see no reason not to skip this one...

Tigolebitties, 25 Feb 2021What do u expect? Many smartphone companies started to ditc... moreLG and Sony doesn't. Heck, Sony is bringing the headphone jack back in the 2020 Xperia flagships. They could have just continued on not putting it since they started it with the XZ2 from 2018.

So really, the only two notable difference across the model are the chipset and the main camera sensor with 8K video recording resolution functionality, that's it. The SD 870 is already crazy powerful, so I'm not sure if I have an added advantage of buying the Pro or Pro+. It's not like the camera performance will matter since neither variants have OIS, so it won't be a good performer in low light condition.
