It�... moreThe S21 Ultra is a great device, I was genuinely thinking of getting it, but it was missing important features I was looking for like expandable storage and didn't seem like much of an upgrade. Then the Oneplus hype train on Hasselblad turned out to be a disappointment. It hasn't been a great year so far for smartphones- hopefully the Xperia 1 III does something different from those guys. The SD 888 isn't much of an upgrade as it loses more ground to apple's processors so the A14 is more powerful than the 888 with 43% more powerful single core performance and an overall higher multi-core score, compared to last years A13 vs 865. Then there are other issues with the S21 Ultra, it has lower display color accuracy when watching content compared to last years Xperia 1 II which also has higher resolution and better quality. The S21 Ultra lacks a headphone jack, front-facing stereo speakers, charger in the box, has a cut-out in the screen which is annoying, it's pictures are over processed and saturated- which is great for posting on social media but for more general use cases like sharing with family/ friends or even reflecting back on pictures they look too fake when we have tech that can show us more 'realistic' looking photos and videos. The 8K is not a feature as in an era of higher refresh rates (60/90/120fps) it only offers 24fps without decent stabilisation which again is important as not everyone has or carries around a gimbal 24/7. I'd rather they offer 4K 120fps video, which is surprisingly missing from the S21 Ultra, despite being such an amazing feature that even a company not typically known for their cameras (Oneplus) offers it in their latest smartphones. Even the Xperia 1 II seems like a better buy than the S21 Ultra, it offers all the missing features: easily removable sim card tray without looking for a pin, expandable storage, lighter and easier to hold, headphone jack, didn't mock apple and copy them by not putting in charger in the box, front-facing stereo speakers, built-in 360 reality audio (& 3 months free Tidal, alongside the free headphones deal at launch with better quality audio- but we don't need to bash Samsung for not making good quality earphones/ headphones as they aren't really an audio company), faster AF with ToF sensor, faster burst shot capabilities, more refined color science in photography/ videos, RAW support across all lenses, Eye AF, 21:9 video recording with lots of manual control and changeable frame rates, a display tuned for natural colors- especially works well with Netflix, DSEE Ultimate- upscaling music, HS Power Control- playing games when charging phone bypassing the battery to avoid over-heating, etc. In short there is a lot more innovation being done & better tech being offered by Sony in last years model than this years S21 Ultra. Let alone the newer Xperia 1 III, which is bound to be an improvement.

There was a old rumor from 2020 about new Pro App.
I would love something like Garage Band (it is from Apple).
I hope it has I.B.I.S, pixel shift and ND filter.
BionzXR would be welcome too, instead of using Spectra from the cpu.

Then explain why Z5 Premium spiritual successor, XZ Premium generated a lot of interest, despite the full leaks only spill the tech universe a few days before MWC 2017? Or how about XZ2 Premium made some of us surprised because it's the only modern phone to launch almost without any leaks?

I'm wondering what Sony will bring to the table this time with the Xperia Mark III series, knowing Sony could give us surprises all the time from all their divisions from past experiences, so this is something to look forward to.

All support up to 4K@60.
1080@120 from QHD or 4K screens uses more power than native 1080@120.
I do not know why people accept to trade battery life to scroll fast if in the end they are gonna complain about the battery life.
No wonder why phones get more expensive year after year.
120/144/240Hz, 12/16/18 GB ram, 512/1000GB storage, 4-5 rear cam sensors.

They also need more attention to mid range, I bought more than year old one from competition with jack, raw, eye af, hi res, 5x tele.
Hopefully they try to compete...

no notch/punch hole/curved edges or other display oscenitys. just want a uninterrupted flat screen. yes with good old small bezels, i don't care. and not too big please. and I'll get it. thank you.

Still, talking about display support, I really doubt the SD888 cannot handle 4K 90Hz, considering the SD865 already supports 2K 144Hz.

Evan Blass, however, has been established to get most of the rumors about Xperias correct, like the design of the actual product and the camera system.
Yes there should be a bridge sensor between the main camera and the periscope camera, but I think it will be just 5x optical zoom to prevent major detail loss. It is rumored that the main camera will be a high resolution sensor anyway, and is a proper Single Bayer sensor, meaning it will be true to its maximum resolution.

There's just no comparison to say that there's a total loss of detail. If anything, it can simply be interpreted as the lack of aggressive sharpening to artificially boost detail level.
About the 5 II having sharper telephoto output than 1 II, it doesn't even look anything signficantly sharper to me at all. The 5 II just renders it a little better due to a more updated camera software, and in that case the 1 II can simply get the camera update to improve its processing a little bit.
Seriously, the difference isn't even that big, and it's mostly noticeable only if you really zoom in way too much.

Couple weeks ago he said periscope was 120mm.
I think having a 4th camera to cover the 50-65mm range like 21 Ultra should be there because cinema pro. Digital zoom degrades video quality. Also switch from 24 to 120mm is a lot of change. Not good for videos.

Even in Malaysia, I had to wait until around December 2020 before the Xperia 1 ii went officially on sale. The phone is still one of my personal favourites, but the long delay is so unnecessary.
