Sony Xperia phone launch scheduled for April 14

It's time for Sony to show out its 2021 phone lineup.

notafanboy, 01 Apr 2021at least the Xperia 1 II had real 3x zoom unlike the S21/S2... moreGuess what? Xperia 1ii telephoto is actually a 20mp at 54mm. The 3x zoom 70mm achieved by downscale the res to 12mp while cropping, at very low 0.8 pixel size.

No wonder GsmArena test it to be very low & soft in quality. So both S20/S21 & Xperia 1ii are actually a 'fake zoom', the difference is, 'fake zoom' quality in S20/S21 are far better than Xperia 1ii are using.

    More than new phones, Sony needs to concentrate on pushing their smartphone imaging sensor design further. There is a lot of scope for improving sensor quality, and Sony clearlt isn't pushing itself enough.

      4k is overkill.
      2k is fine.
      Some real innovation should come in battery department.

              Price and availability will ruin this model sales again.
              People will rather buy MIX Fold than wait for Sony for same price.
              I was waiting mark II for too long to buy it(((

                So... None of the Sony phones that I have seen are not very big shots.. But I hope this lineup is gonna be better than the Oneplus 9 Series and the Samsung S21 Series (hope so!!!!)

                  I hope one of them is the compact and it is coming to Europe also for under 500 euros

                    If other cam makers (Panasonic sometimes sell low ends in India) were making cellphones, they would use same aproach they use on their cameras.

                    People can easily turn HDR of Photo Pro and leave all rest on auto.
                    They do not do it just because they are lazy.
                    It would not take 10s to do everything.
                    But instead, they do not. Then complain.

                    I do not understand why people sacrifice exposure of subject in favor of background, when foreground is more important.
                    Not even Photographers do it, why would amateurs?

                    Dual ISO and other tools cellphones have do not prevent issues that can sometimes happen if imaging stacking is used. Few Alpha have Dual ISO.

                    They need to use Bayer camera like Samsung, just make it bigger like 1/1.4" or 1/1.3".

                    Periscope is said to be 120mm.

                            Without notch: Taller dimension than phone with notches despite having same display size
                            With notch: Shorter n more compact size. Over 90% videos(like YT) only uses 18:9 ratio and 16:9 anyway..
