Yeah, keep developing new designs and models. What's the point when these companies do not sell them

AnonD-909757, 16 Apr 2021"as well as Zenfone Flip which could be the only devic... moreWhat do you mean by "useless" IP67/68? Thanks to that so-called "useless" feature, I don't have to worry about using the phone in any condition. I even did underwater mobile photography and videography with my phone and it never miss a beat, still working fine as usual to this day. Heck, I never even use any kind of underwater casing whatsoever at all. Frankly, I'm totally okay of sacrificing camera pop-up mechanism for a more durable smartphone.

Another huge disappointment for those of us looking for an android device comparable to the dimensions of the iPhone mini, which is the perfect size for me.
I'm tired of hearing people calling phones this size compact, mini, or small. Sure, they are smaller than most on the market but they are still NOT what most small phone lovers want. Then, when the phone has low sales numerous they'll deduce that there's no demand for small phones. And here I thought variety was the spice of life. Not in the world of mobile phones apparently

"as well as Zenfone Flip which could be the only device to retain the signature flip-up camera of the previous Zenfone series"
This is exactly how I wish pop up, flip up, slider and other moving camera phone were, a dedicated variant of a series with this feature, if fearmongers and the need for the useless IP67/68 rating didn't killed the pop up it would be great to have sub-variant of phones with other designs, and it applies to many design features, such as curved display, camera setup, etc.
But once again, people's stupidity killed something that would have been great.

You'll probably see a chipset with integrated 5g modem in a mini phone. 870 doesn't come with an integrated chipset but an external one. And Asus hasn't officially named the device Zenfone 8 mini, it's just the name news websites are using for their 5.9" screen phone.

It will be interesting watch the new design. But their cameras and software for image procesing aren't that good, not until now. The IMX686 will not help against those big sensors with bigger pixel size that others use. Custom IMX7xx, IMX8xx and HM2... They also never had a periscope camera. We will see...
Will they maintain the aluminium body? Or will it split in two like the ROG 5?

excellent phone 700$ or 600€ would be a great price, but think they will charge extra for the huge amount of memory

Shadocx, 16 Apr 2021Seeing how most Pro/Ultra flagships are 6.7 or 6.8" no... moreInteresting! Not into phones and annoyed by the size. I made the big mistake of assuming the huge size was because they market to younger people who do not always have access to a laptop, tablet or a proper PC.
You made me realize that many use them as micro tablets now. The Pixek 4a is considered small, but even with my huge hands I have to slid the phone to access the top of the screen.
Someone needs to start making true one handed barebone android phones, no need for flagship specs ou UI that messes with the OS stability since younger people wont buy it.

I don't understand why they don't use the SD870 for the mini, since the 870 is more energy efficient and not getting as hot, which would be perfect for small devices with smaller batteries and worse cooling.

yes please a compact factor with real flagship specs. i don't care about the ultra latest soc actually, but i need first class camera. want telephoto (at least 3x) and ultrawide along with main cam. if this one will have all that and in compact size i could get one. but in the article they mention just 2 cams... pity.
my other choice is Xperia 5 III but it isn't that small. plus I'm sure I'm going to miss wireless charging.. but need a new phone so either this or 5 III.
we want small phones with still good specs, especially camera, damn!! we can understand smaller batteries but for the rest oems you should keep flagship specs otherwise don't come here saying smaller versions have no success.. of course nobody bus them you remove most interesting features from them compared to their bigger counterparts!!!
