I just hope Pixel upgrades their camera in Pixel 6 to newest sensor from Sony or Samsung, and goes for a costume chip or best SD. If not im finally done with Google after Nexus 5. This is just meh, they haven't really changed their sensor since Pixel 2. Have below average hardware for premium prices (up to 4) or straight up midrange spec for high end prices (5)

Google back it again with its new models; Pixel 5, Pixel 5 XL, and Pixel 5a with the same camera hardware. Smh

Anonymous, 25 Apr 2021That could be because of a lack of extreme noise processing... moreOr simply because the competition uses a sensor that is 3-4 times larger than what Google insists on using Pixels, which naturally leads to less noisy images.

Nick Tegrataker, 25 Apr 2021I've got a job and am having a proper life, thank you ... moreThat could be because of a lack of extreme noise processing which comprises the image a little. As they are trying to emphasize how high grade there images are, and professionals don't want the extra processing, that could cause it. But it's sensible just to have an option to turn noise processing down and up, then everybody can be a bit happy.

The same camera sensor and the same chipset as in the flagship-level Pixel 5. Should I expect anything more?

I had to big thumbs down on the 686, with fuller pro like color and dynamic range on the Samsung flagship sensors in video. Sony couldn't even get to the minimum ideal levels. At the minimum I would be happy to have the extra lowlight and Sony noise or rolling shutter advantage. But how it looks in normal lighting range says everything, I don't really need to see an ant down a drainpipe at night.

Which camera sensor they use they still produce garbage. Xiaomi Mi11U is using largest camera sensor and yet they failed. Compare it with S21U which also uses a Samsung sensor and u will know how bad Xiaomi's software processing is.

Ok, google. Let's get real. If you want to do something significant. Get all the video features of LG v series and Sony phones and cinelook pro, and put them in a 16k 24fps phone extra wide mode (and 8kp50/60/100 slow motion). Start treating your phones like a professional video camera with a full manual with user configurable external wireless controls and recording, and push to auto set Go Pro mode, with high datarate modes beyond the Snap Dragon chipsets in a custom effort, and 4:2:2 4:4:4 12 bit HDR and flat. And a complete privacy business and national security mode $2 a month shared among app developers based on usage. Then sell for this price and watch CooKs face.

There is not much more to practically rung out of stills photos. The market will start to dry up a bit.
