But, it is OnePlus's responsibility to tell Qualcomm that SD888 is crap and unusable and that they are NOT going to pay huge amount to Qualcomm for producing that crap. OnePlus should have done this during the design phase of the phone. Once that stage is crossed AND OnePlus decided to use the dud SOC anyway, it is OnePlus's responsibility to provide a good user experience for the customers who paid $1000 to them.

Why in the world is no one blaming Qualcomm for all this? Qualcomm is the actual guilty party but I'm seeing too much fanboyism.
They screwed up with Snapdragon 810 few years ago, and now they do it again. But why no one's blaming them?
BTW not a oneplus fanboy, neither have any product from them, nor onplus ID. I have a LG G8x, but I felt they had to make this decision given the crap that 888 is. Some companies did manage it better somehow though, with cooling systems and all, which OP9 also has, of some kind.

Hemedans, 08 Jul 2021This is not first and won't be last, these companies c... moreAgreed about last time, but this time they have a genuine hotchip on their hands, the 888.
Why do you not blame Qualcomm for this? I find Oneplus not guilty here. I've seen videos in which SD870 and SD888 were running 3D benchmarks and 888 gave an error of overheating and stopped the test.
Its the SD888 which has failed, let's not fanworship Qualcomm.

This quote from anandtech
"Chrome seemed to be suffering from extremely weird behaviour that at worst ended up with the browser only being able to use the SoC’s little Cortex-A55 cores"
If oneplus can't Cool sd 888 they should use other soc, no need to cheat people that their phone has sd 888 while it's just there for benchmarks, most task are handled by downclocked cortex A78 and cortex A55.

This is the litterary same like Apple and their problems with batteires and how to prolong their lifespan by setting the most fastest phone CPU up to the date M1 to reduce its power and speed to crawling.

I do agree there is a lot to criticize OnePlus, from the lack of communication to the lack of option to disable that feature. Nevertheless, do not try to conflate the known cheating methods with what is happening here.

AlienKiss, 08 Jul 2021It's like going to a car maker to buy a car that has 1... moreThat's a really bad analogy, for two reasons: (1) most car manufacturers do employ all kinds of "Eco modes" to save fuel -- from throttle maps to a full engine shutdown when stopping at a traffic light; (2) by definition of an ICE, you cannot attain those power outputs at all times because they depend on the current revs (i.e., that power output is always measured above given rev number).

It's like going to a car maker to buy a car that has 1000hp, but when you actually drive it on the road, you realize that the car is acting like a 500hp car or less, BUT you are paying for 1000hp! No matter how hard you hit the pedal to the floor, the car won't accelerate to the engine's full performance.
And now all these fanboys are scratching their faces off and screaming in the comments section that this isn't such a big deal. But everyone knows this is the most important thing in a smartphone : the CPU and it's behavior towards running processes and services.
I don't really care about what phone are other people using,
but don't buy a bs brand like OP, then say it's better than any other brand, especially when you've never even held in your hands the competitors because you couldn't afford them.

Samsung is my brand of choice but lets be real, they are not magical. It has to be the device's themselves.

I really rhink oneplus brand is innocent here and its aqualcomm failure.
But to prevent loss on top models and in sales they rather cover qualcomm and hide the truth than saying the qualcomm is guilty.
Because qualcomm is much bigger company with much bigger sales and if they really would they will eat oneplus brand like its cotton candy.
