Finally they have addressed a problem I have had since day one I bought my phone. I have the mi 11 ultra every phone call I make after a few second goes into loud speaker mode mutes people or ends the call. This phone is unusable as a phone and also don't know if this is related but everytime I watch YouTube is pauses and unpauses itself. Worst decision I have made switching from Samsung that I had many of for 6 years

TechLover, 22 Aug 2021Thx man!You can try recalibrating the sensor by entering *#*#6484#*#* on the dialer to get into the CIT menu. Scroll down to option 21 and press ENTER. Perform the second option which is raise the phone to your ear. If it shows that the sensor is working then press PASS to exit. My phone showed that the sensor is working correctly even though it isn't.

Anonymous, 22 Aug 2021I'm not sure what the problem is really. The article d... moreI own a Poco F3 with the proximity sensor problem so I will explain. When you receive a call and you lift the phone to your ear then the dialling screen should lock and go dark so that the user cannot press any buttons by mistake. If you wish to use any buttons, for instance Press 1 for option 1, then removing the phone from your ear should unlock the screen and light it up so that you can use the buttons. This doesn't work with the faulty sensor fitted to Xiaomi phones with the problem. A lot of the time the screen will stay alight when it is against your ear and it is easy to press a button unintentionally. Several times I have accidently ended a call when my cheek has brushed against the 'End Call button'.

I have a Mi 11 ultra which sometimes has the issues with the screen not going dark during calls
I think it might be using the camera as sensor.

This is not "recent phones issue" (Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 8, Redmi 9/Poco M3, X3 etc. are affected) nor is the "hardware issue" since sensors work in testing/calibration mode/menu (and often during use, but not always as it should)

I bet it's the driver/priority process/miui (battery) optimization related, like agressive timing/stoping during call or some bug in collision with other MIUI processes/services, since it's wide spread across devices and MIUI revisions

and I understand, I bet people are looking to upgrade from phones from the likes of the F3 or the Redmi Note 10 Pro and I bet they could get Sorely disappointed if they can't make calls properly because of the proximity sensor issue.

For now let's just cross our fingers and see what Xiaomi does about it. There's some comfidence in it.

of course alot of people are speculating that this is a hardware issue and while they might start making new batches/models with better proximity sensor, I honestly don't know how Will they tackle the issue with the OTA Updates from their current OEM but I hope they have an ace up in their sleeve.
