Secure face ID is by far the best, in my experience. I have never had a fingerprint scanner as reliable as Face ID, and my current Xiaomi under-screen scanner fails to unlock on the first try about 40% of the time, and totally fails about 20%.
And the cost statement is nonsense: Face ID is far more expensive to implement securely, which is why the vast majority of Chinese brands don't do.

I'm pretty sure the reason Apple backtracked is because they probably put it under certain specific scenarios and it probably failed at it. And by "specific scenarios", I mean something pretty rare, like a wet finger using it or something like that

For my security reasons i dont want any biometric system on my phone for lock screen or anything. The less info of me on my phone the better for me. Biometric info of me either my face or fingerprint can be used against me when i lose my phone or being hacked or for some reason these get leaked. I make my own security and dont need to depend on a flawed systems that have vulnerabilities, that is basically all digital. There is noting impossible in technology and programming. It wont be easy but it's not impossible. We are not able to do something now that dont mean we cant do it in a year or two so using this world impossible is dumb excuse

Finally someone who understands that UD fingerprint reader isn't much mature and needs a lot of workaround
The fact that apple is still on top is they always use the mature tech not a beta tester like Samsung and Xiaomi

Mel, 23 Aug 2021Zflip for sure is not recommended in display because is a f... moreNo one has a phone without a lock any more, you can't use things like Google Play without it. So, you have to use the fingerprint reader. Like I said, I own both the Flip and S21U and the in display fingerprint reader in the S21U is superior for daily use. Unlocks as easily with the left hand as the right hand. The sensor Samsung uses isn't a useless optical sensor like Chinese phones use. It isn't sensitive to light. It works the same day and night.

dbjungle, 23 Aug 2021You're wrong. You don't know me. I buy a lot of... moredunno which phones you been buying but you are doing something wrong. I've had great experiences using under display sensors between Huawei and Samsung. and there was recently a Vivo (I believe) phone that was previewed with a huge sensor big enough for multiple fingers that is literally instant as soon as the screen is pressed. so the technology is not only there, but it's much better than feeling on the back of the phone. don't have to lift the device anywhere to use the fingerprint - what's not to love? reevaluate.

travstr, 23 Aug 2021...said by someone who's never used one before, clearly. You're wrong. You don't know me. I buy a lot of phones. I've had 4 phones with UD fingerprint. It's slower and less accurate than a dedicated capacitive fingerprint sensor. It's a waste of money as far as I'm concerned and I wish companies wouldn't bring this trash technology into the market until it is on par with the outgoing technology.

Why was I hoping Apple to do something intelligent and help bring ultrasonic FPS to the masses?
Yep, never again I'll associate "intelligent", "clever", "smart" or "ingenious" with the smartphone market, its OEMs and its community, it would be an insult to those words.
