Only flagships get OS updates be it HarmonyOS or Emui. I have a Y6P and the only updates you get for Y or YP series are security patch updates and bug fixes. No Emui 11 that has been around a year let alone 12. Same for chinese version they only focus on P series, Mate, Nova and Honor so far damn mainstream flagships.

I have honor 10 lite. Came with android 9. I didn't get more than 1 major update to android 10. I didn't get emui 11 over android 10 ever and my last security update was October 2020. What disappointing?!

It's just technically impossible, since Huawei doesn't have that kind of "I want to know everything about you" ecosystem. And even then I'd give my info to Huawei instead of Google.

Finally got HarmonyOS 2.0 on my Huawei tablet. It's like a faster version of Android without Google store and google spy crap.

EMUI-12 -> For the ... moreNot really. While they share the Linux kernel support and a lot of UI elements, Harmony OS is a different OS all-together that has 2 frameworks, the HarmonyOS one and the Android one. This makes the devices able to install Android apps, like GMS.
The difference comes in the form of coding and optimisation of apps, users who upgraded say they gained about 30-40% more storage and battery life (due to the smaller app packages that need to be computed). There is also the ability to seamlessly connect a lot of HarmonyOS devices, things like using the camera of another phone and streaming it on a TV. Hopefully more features will be added in the future.
