Unlike you, I'm at least consistent with my claims and I still stand firm with claim that these plastic displays are just too fragile and only reason I'd ever go with it if I'd absolutely need a pocketable mini tablet sized display on the go. Which I don't and realistically, most doesn't either. Especially not in this square shape where you don't gain anything for video content which is all rectangular with very wide aspect ratio and where regular bar shaped smartphones actually do better in landscape position. Would be great 20 years ago though, when most of content was 4:3...

This is the breakthrough foldables need. The outward fold was always best. Now, Huawei can resurrect the Mate X. I doubt any US tech was used in the folding glass.

A very good chance this LG tech will be applied on next generation folding devices like the Pixel Fold.

Jerry101923, 07 Sep 2021A pity that this doesn't have a chance to be applied o... moreA question being asked hundreds of times by techtubers in the near future, tri-folds or rollables?

I personally think there is good and bad to both. Tri-folds can be viewed like a tent but has multiple creases. Rollables has no crease but the motor opening up like a Oppo Find X could wear out faster.

These foldables still have durability question marks. Manufacturers already have problems with foldables folding once. Imagine the problems arising from foldables folding twice? Or if the rollable display will actually roll out or get stuck?

I guess the one that wins is the one that can offer it the cheapest like VHS beating Betamax even if VHS had inferior picture quality. Cheapest can lead to popularity which leads to mass market adoption. Prices plummet when tech gets adopted.

South Koreans are the only ones innovating especially with their display tech.

Good job, LG. Same company that put a wide-angle cam on a G5 back in early 2016. The same G5 that people bash but other OEMs copied using a wide-angle cam.

Lg leading the display tech once again

                              Yeah, what could go wrong.

I thought this might be a plastic like glass product, or glass like material, but nope just cheapo plastic with a thin layer. Wake me when the complaints come on in maybe 5-2 years.

Well looks interesting but because its something tottaly new and the research and developement were very costly the final price on any device will be completely absurd and noone will buy.
Like with foldables. Who needs a foldable phone for 2000 if they can buy a decent phone for 500 and decent tablet for another 500???
Having one device instead of two makes point and sense but bar not foldable phone is smaller and thinner and more easy to carry in pocket.

For the rest since now all the foldable phones no matter the brand durability of the outer and inner screen was horrible to zero.
Wonder how much will improve with this but will wait for Zack Nelson aka Jerryrigeverything to prove the real durability instead of hat LG is claiming and thinking.

When comes to phone durability tests i rather trust to a well known operson such as Zack Nelson than a well known brand with paid people who tells and says anything just to advertise new thing for that certain brand.
